NEW SHIPS?

  • Hi everyone! I think Sea of Thieves needs a new ship for 5 players. To keep it balanced, it should be extremely difficult to manage:

Very slow turning and heavy anchor.Sails that require 2 people to be raised quickly.Multiple decks, making repairs harder to coordinate.
This would allow larger groups of friends to play together without making the ship too 'overpowered' against smaller crews. What do you think?"

Regardless of the ship being difficult to sail (which would probably turn many away from it), there's still an imbalance with 5 players here. If a sloop is trying to sink it, it's going to have a difficult time with bilge, flex, and the 5th person bucketing and repairing. Or, 2 people can go board while helm, cannons, and bilge are perfectly fine.
Not only does the ship have to be balanced, the crew does too.

Safer Fleets are coming, and with a subscription, you'll be able to invite everyone to a sloop on your own private server if you wish.

I agree, last thing the game needs is a bigger ship.
7 years heading into 8 years and the average crew can't even sail a galleon properly to it's full potential.
The times we have seen that on all ship types is through the competitive community, which were shamed and died off from transmitting that knowledge to the broader player base over time. It's a double edged sword that this game is nearing a decade old and the average player base hasn't gotten any better at the game since launch lol. It keeps things ''fresh'' but it's also... Sad...

Ok a 5 man ship could be made where it's technically harder to manage than the galleon, that still doesn't suppress the fact that a solo sloop cannon still has to output a lot of cannonballs to threaten a sink for it just as it currently does towards a galleon.
A solo sloop Cannot sink a 4 man galleon crew that know their roles and are all good players without external help for the sloop. Such as a Smugglers keg.

  • A good alternative to this would be variants of ships. A sloop with more firepower in expense for slowness. A sloop with two sails at the expense of something.

This is like the 15th "new ship" post i've seen lately Im not complaining. Rolls on deck laughing i am decently new to the forums. does this happen where one topic is posted a million times by different people?

100%. An organized galleon crew is much more difficult to sink, with everyone knowing their rules, and clear communication. I've joined random galleons before where we're doing hourglass, ask for one bucket, and 3 people all come down. Facepalm moments. It's why I love sinking galleons with a sloop, because more often than not, disorganized crews have no idea what they're doing. My best one to date, was when 3 people shot off to board me, leaving one guy to deal with the carnage I then inflicted upon the vessel, sending it to Davy Jones.

Sadly yes, there's no rules Afaik about reposting the same topic over and over and over again. (as long as it's not from the same person copying and pasting it).

LOL sometimes I like to think the mods are sitting at their desks with counters on the wall, "It's been 0 days since someone brought up... X." LOL, perhaps making bets with each other when another thread of the same topic gets posted.

They have a bingo game going on with hot pot (or treasure chest)

  • @broadsideban I've seen a bunch of ridiculous AI videos every time I scroll down my facebook feed. To the point I rarely even look at FB any more. All that to say we're using AI for slop when we could be using it for stuff like this. Auto moderating forums to group everything up into neat little categories. Though if we linked everything together then the human mods would just drop anchor on every single topic lol. Would make their lives easier I guess. But then it comes with the territory. Bumping an old post = Necroing which gets locked pretty fast. Why not just make posts auto lock after a set amount of time? That would save mods a load of time as well. Instead we just get reposts of the same years and years old topics.

One could argue this is why the developers don't even look in here. It's just the same stuff over and over again. Like Steam comments were probably 40% bring back arena, 30% add pve servers, 30% fix your game. Let's just not allow comments on Steam. Done. EZPZ.

I agree, I think game devs, really don't bother looking at these forums, it's pretty evident.
