  • Please consider adding split-screen local co-op on ps5 and xbox

  • That would require a lot of more Reworking.

Many players want to enjoy Sea of Thieves with family or friends on the same console

Well, if they have there own version in same house (or GamePass) you can play on same server sometime this year.

  • @burnbacon
I meant to add SPLIT SCREEN for people like me that only have 1 console and want to play with their friends and family
I know it's hard but that will raise the number of playing time . you can make that 2 people play on same console but each one playing on his account

Like in new cod zombies for example if you want to play split-screen with your friend you will have to sign in on two accounts, one for you , and one for your friend

  • @waelah13 apart from the sheer amount of development work required to pull this off most hardware would simply not be able to cope woth 2 players on the same system especially when they are further apart on the map

  • Is there no solution like can't they make that 2 players have limits further from each other like if they got a little too far from each other eventually they will get damaged

And also when 2 players join together they usually stay close to each other while playing because they have to fight against other pirates
And the dangers to protect each other

  • And also when 2 players join together they usually stay close to each other while playing

Then players will want rare to remove the limit and allow them to freely venture away from there crew. Tuckers wanna tuck solo and allow there crew to freely sail a distance away.

No, because players can always be at least half a map away due to the location of the Ferry of the Damned. You can easily have a player cannon off to an island while the ship sails on and enters another island's activation zone, resulting in one console needing to have 2 separate areas loaded into it's already extremely limited memory. It would be a slideshow.

I don't think they'd bother with Split Screen at this point in the games life cycle.

  • There are open world games that have split-screen like ark survival ascended and outward and people enjoyed it

  • @waelah13 its not about people enjoying it or not, its about a systems capability of running it.

SoT is very memory intensive and decently graphically demanding, this would put an immense load on the system and it is probably not something that can be made so it runs well and reliable on current console hardware.

Then there is the fact that it would create an immense amount of development work on the developers for a subset of a subset of the player base and also one without necessarily a real ROI

Not too mention if it would require adding in limitations to the players that are playing split screen, this sort of incidental development is not something that is sustainable in general

Just putting out there that another game did it doesnt mean that any other game can just add it, every game works differently and puts a system under different loads

  • @waelah13 completely support and understand this request and agree that split screen SoT would be incredible, but as others have said, I honestly think this is (very sadly) a "can't" rather than a "won't".

  • I just wish split-screen to happen

  • @waelah13

Wish away. But it is "impossible"

  • Generally, the reason we've seen a steep decline in split-screen gaming is because of how in-depth/intensive/demanding games have become. When you play split-screen, the game essentially needs to be run twice on a single system. Not to say that it's not possible, like you mentioned, there ARE current games that have split-screen capability.

I think ultimately it'd come down to a developer decision to pursue that. I'm not entirely sure that they'd ever get there, but 100% agree that some desire would be there, especially for families with younger children who wouldn't have their own console.
