Does anyone know how the IPG works?

  • I've been looking for a specific pirate type for the last 6 days, refreshing the IPG over and over again trying to find a specific pirate that I have screenshots of. Despite seeing over 50,000 different pirates, including one incident where the same pirate spawned twice next to each other in a single roll, I have not seen the one pirate I'm looking for. Does anyone have any knowledge outside of the wiki about how the IPG works? Is there any way to influence the odds?

  • As far as I know, the IPG is supposed to be completely random, with no way to influence what you get.

I’ve had my main pirate for a long time and I’m happy with him. But a few days ago I found out about pirate profiles so I decided to grab one just to mess around with the IPG again since it had been a while and I was curious.

I’m trying to roll a good-looking female pirate, but there’s almost always something off. If she has a nice body, she usually looks really old. If she has a pretty face, she often ends up with a masculine body shape or is just very big girl. I’ve also noticed that Asian and Black female pirates seem to turn out nicer more often.

After rolling for a bit, it kinda feels like the system isn’t fully random, and that some traits might be more likely to show up together — but that’s just my impression.

These are some of the parameters I noticed while rolling:

    • Gender
    • Ethnicity
    • Skin tone
    • Eye color
    • Hair color
    • Makeup
    • Scars
    • Age
    • Body shape
    • Body size
    • Teeth

    Anyway, back to rolling! 😄

  • @potatosord it’s absolutely random the combinations that get put together. Even favouriting the ones on the carousel don’t influence the next choices.

  • There's a seed, then there are these technically changeable variables:

    • Gender
    • Bodyshape
    • Ethnicity
    • Age
    • Dirtyness
    • Wonkyness

But there is no way to change them without breaking ToS

  • You've rolled enough times to see 50,000 pirates?

Time to accept the teachings of ageing rocker Mick Jagger - You Can't Always Get What You Want.

  • Yup, one of the most requested features is to keep. The IPG but be able to pick a couple of variables:
    Sex
    Body type
    Age

If you want a chunky middle ages male , well still a ton of variation there.

  • @pc-monkfish Too bad. I've seen over 90,000 now.

  • 90 000? Assuming you've spent 5 seconds viewing the pirates that are generated with each re-roll, you have spent at least 125 hours rolling pirates. That's a bit more than 5 days, 24/7. O.o
