remove resections on safer seas

  • I will agree over the years content has grown but in the last 5 years the game had a peak of 66,000 Players. Currently its in the range of 7,000-10,000. rare has already gone back on their word by allowing safer seas in the game but heavily restricted it so new players an older players are still forced into high seas to allow die hard pirates to just bully them. combat is always the same there is no change in how pirates interaction its always been toxic an pointless even when i was getting pirate legend before safer seas on in game. It seems very pointless not to allow safer seas to be unrestricted so people can play how they want. pvpers will always go to high seas an hour glass to find their combat. What about the rest of the 50,000 players that choose to leave the game because they are being forced where rare thinks they should be? safer seas was a great idea but the restrictions are pointless. It has only made people not want to play. maybe a few people have come back due to the recent 60% off sale but once they get bullied a couple of times by salty pirates laughing an bucketing their ship they will just quit again. I do agree a pirate game is a pirate game an there's people out there that want to steal your loot but what about the people who are being sunk just because there on the server with nothing? i do not think pvp should be removed or anything silly like that i just believe there should be a place for both player bases to enjoy themself an not feel like there locked inside a cage of content because rare wants everyone in the same place creating "chaos". all the information of player counts iv stated in this post can be found with a simple google search an based the player count off steam players. im sure those numbers varies on console.

I got the feeling a mod will just lock this post again but hopefully it will shine some light on a big issue in the game an it will help the community receive what they deserver not everyone wants to fight other pirates all day. some of us just want to chill even if the devs don't think that's the way the game should be played. customers are always right an the player count is a big sign of that an they are blatantly ignoring. Im not suggesting that anyone play one or the other full time id suggest everyone play the game in its full experience but most people don't already because of the current state of the game an the way development is heading.

    Pros of removing restrictions

    More player count
    More micro transitions
    less bug abuse
    less false cheating reports
a better playing environment for casual players
More money to implement bug fixes an push forward ability's to combat cheaters
    Happier bulk player base
pvp encounter will be more thrilling because they will be fighting more experienced pvpers more often
pve players will casually play for many years
less server demand because pve players wont be taking up space in the high seas allowing for less servers to be used since a bulk of the community will be in private servers
many commendations an activity's already push people towards high seas an pvp activity

    Cons of not removing restrictions

    constant declining player base
bug abusers to gain advantage in fights
cheaters - the more pvp content that's added will only increase the number of cheat devs to want to make money from selling their cheats.
less income for sea of thieves
many false cheating reports because people get bullied for no reason
pvp players will still constantly bully newer or returning players for no gain besides winning a fight.

  • I think you skipped the mods reply on your last thread that got closed friend:
    https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/181842/unrestricted-pve/2

  • @contraband3630 pros and cons - lists two sets of pros xd

    More player count - assumption
    More micro transitions - assumption
    less bug abuse - assumption
less false cheating reports - true
a better playing environment for casual players - true
More money to implement bug fixes an push forward ability's to combat cheaters - assumption
Happier bulk player base - assumption
pvp encounter will be more thrilling because they will be fighting more experienced pvpers more often - true
pve players will casually play for many years - assumption
less server demand because pve players wont be taking up space in the high seas allowing for less servers to be used since a bulk of the community will be in private servers - assumption
many commendations an activity's already push people towards high seas an pvp activity - i guess

In short, you present 90% of your points as fact, when they are just assumptions, and don't actually list any cons..

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
