Hourglass MMR

  • Even though I consider myself a good player, there are battles in HG where I absolutely smoke the other crews or I get absolutely railed. There is an unfair part of HG where the matches are severely lopsided and doesn't make it fun to play on both sides. How can I have a balanced fight for both crews? Better yet, are they going to fix the progression and matchmaking issues for the HG update instead of just QOL changes that aren't that big of a deal.

    Well, not much can be done. If there are only 10 players in HG and out of those 10 is 3 who are close to your W/L, but they are offline...

    "Balanced 50/50" and there are no balanced matches where both teams can have a fair fight. It's like Super Bowl LIX.

    They could make actual improvements to the mode by (sorry Rare for the frightening language) listening to the HG community. There are a ton of issues that were not address for their patches to HG (to my knowledge, i could be wrong) that i see people constantly complaining about. Maybe if they fixed the mode, focused on progression based cosmetics, and fixed the game's performance in general, people would play more

    I agree with ye but as it stands now HG be just instant PvP. I've struggled me self with this but have had a better mental about it since lookin' at it that away.

    Changes be needin' to happen if it becomes MMR and a ladder/ranked be added.

    1. Shrinkin' area of play (already bein' implemented) Every 5 minutes area of play shrinks 10% cappin' at 30 minutes so it will have shrunk by 60% over 30 minutes.
    • I know pirates be complainin' about bein' demasted out in the shrinkin' area but the meta would change to stay and not run to reset every 6 holes... Gotta commit to the fight.
    1. Area where ye not gonna hit rocks durin' emerge and away from world events/ancient megs
    2. A shroud that keeps others from intererance that disappears after the match is over to allow the victor ship to then continue to the sea or dive again.

    I feel that if these be implemented then it could open the market for gamers who like competitive games to also come and enjoy the sea. Again, these changes are only required if there be a ranked/ladder system where ye would want a stable environment to have a ranked match with out outside influence. Emergin' megs and skele ships be part of the experience but sucks when ye spawn with an ancient meg and ocean crawlers be attackin' ye before ye can even move (yes it has happened to me) or in a skele fleet/ghost fleet.

  • @burnbacon A lot of the time though ye not playin' pirates of same skill level be the point. Either way too advanced or way to easy and ye cannot learn from that. The match be over too quick to practice. Playin' high level competitive fightin' and rts games I can tell ye that it does not benefit either party completin' destroyin' the opponent or bein' destroyed in a 2 minute match. Ye need equal play where decision makin' becomes a factor and not just a quick sink from either party.
