PIRATE TOWNS

  • In real life pirate days, when true pirates had been on the seas and got their hands on a sizeable amount of money, they would go to a "pirate town" where they would spend a lot on a variety of luxuries and services. Including gambling.

Treasure in Sea of Thieves feels like it has little value to it. As it only contributes to stats and cosmetics. A pirate town in Sea of Thieves would be a social hub to spend your money in. Food, drinks, boxing matches, strength duels, raggedy casinos, all sorts of things.

    So..the Outposts?

Treasure in Sea of Thieves feels like it has little value to it.

As it only contributes to stats and cosmetics.

    Which is the main idea.

  • Not disagreeing with you as such. You spend your gold, something gets added to a menu of options somewhere as one of the things you can get out, provided you put the other thing away first. It can feel a little empty. I do understand the desire to spend your gold on actually making something happen. Some kind of display, event, or game, or something you can interact with.

The problem is there are some lines that most likely will never be crossed as they open a can of worms that shouldn't be opened. Among these are trading with other players (taking money out of one player's account and putting it into another) and gambling (even for fake money). Once you've removed anything that includes either of these things, what ideas would you include in a pirate town that you can't already find at an outpost? Not asking to be snarky, if you have ideas that definitely wouldn't start the game down a slippery slope towards SoT gold being traded for real money, I genuinely encourage you to share them.

  • @zimited8670 Alright dude, this is SOT not real life. If they ever manage to build a piracy emulater that is 100% accurate historically, we will not make it past day one.

That being said what you propose is a situation with the potential to turn toxic. This is one of the reasons why the Arena was closed in the first place: players from various crews, gathered in the same place, doing nothing but exchange insults.

    Hard pass! 👎
