These so called surveys that Rare is basing their decisions on the last couple months is a big issue IMO.
I received the first one back in August, and while the survey itself was decent, the method of how Rare sends them out is a huge red flag. First, you need to be an Insider's, which is easy enough. Then you need to have your preferences set to receiving news and surveys, etc. from Rare. Also, not hard to do but not something I wager a huge portion of the community knows they need to do. Then you need to also keep an eye out for a random email that doesn't have a specified date on if or when it will appear. Most players already don't want to spend their time keeping an eye out for something like that. On top of that, I still have yet to receive the survey in my email and when reaching out to Rare support I was answered with a "I'm sorry we cannot help you on this occasion" - just WOW.
This is where the problem lies. Rare seem to be picking and choosing who they send their surveys to based on how they answered the previous survey or just randomly sending them out to some and not others. Although probably not true, they seem to be trying to cater to how they want the game to progress, under the guise of a "survey", I.E. they send email surveys out to everyone on Insiders the first time, then pick and choose who to send the second survey out to based on which ones matched their expectations in the answers from the first survey. If this is not the case, then why do they not just have a link on this website and the main game for any and every player to fill out? Also, why is it so hard to say when the emails will be sent out? Why are Insiders the only ones allowed to give their opinion on what they want to see from the game, in the survey? Also, why not show us all the statistics, like how many people exactly took the survey and how each question ranked up? It seems like they reported to us only cherry picked information.
Regardless, I think the way Rare is handling these surveys does more harm than good. The way they release the surveys means what the majority of the community wants is probably not well reflected in the survey results because you are not making it available to most of the player base. I would suggest doing what so many other games do, where players that have a profile receive a link we can access from our games main menu or a link on the official website tied to our profile, where the link should be found no matter what. It just seems like more funny business yet again and it's frustrating.
