Some events that are based around the holiday (or in general) should not be just 3 days, but 5 days. I'm not really the type of guy to devote my entire life to SoT to miss holidays with family and friends to spend on the game, but I do wanna participate. The events should start 2 days before the holiday and end 2 days after, giving 5 days to play (2 before, 1 during, and 2 after).
This is for people who either work/celebrate during the holidays to get some rewards while not missing any of the goodies the game offers, and for kids who have plans with their family and friends to get a chance to play.
