I personally will be glad but I'm curious from the OGs here on their thoughts for what it could mean to open seas. To me it's like when GTA finally added private servers. Lot of folks loved it but man did the open world become really really dangerous. I'm wondering if anyone else thinks this may happen in SOT.
Thoughts on the private server subs in early 2026
I think a lot of stuff is going to happen in custom servers, but I think safer seas fleets will take more people off the seas than anything else. Even with limited rep progression, there will still be 100% gold, and there are so many exploits that will be possible in safer seas now that you can have 2 boats. People will use kingly exploit to cheese billions of gold and doubloons. I'm gonna check out custom servers for content and testing purposes, but I think it's not likely to be something I play much in, given there will be no gold earned or progression.
