Returning Pirate, Where Do I Begin Again ?

  • Howdy fellow Pirates !

I’m a returning Sea of Thieves Veteran and I’m coming back into everything blind. I’ll explain briefly why I left and the last few things I did. So your suggestion can be more targeted !

The last few times I set sail, I remember playing during the Burning Blade Scandal and continued a little more during Season 13 with little to nothing to do.

Then introducing !! Season 14, I was super excited for new stuff, but… well you know, key components missing or broken that were advertised, which simply was not enjoyable or fair. Yeah we got some cool stuff, but then we had to wait for content that we should’ve already had, so a mixture of that, life, and other things… It was the final plank keeping my ship afloat.

I did load in for a look at the Hunter’s call stuff in Season 15. I played with a spear, sailed to a seapost, walked around, and I can’t really remember anything else because I still had that boredom connected, then I logged off.

Though my love for the Seas has never changed, it didn’t feel enjoyable as it was or as it should’ve been at the time (S14). That feeling of care and consideration felt abandoned and was disheartening for a game I watched grow and I grew up with to basically become stale and lacked the fun.

That’s the short and simple way of putting it. But I wanna give it another go around because I have missed it, but I don’t want to waste my time with preparing my ship to sail if there’s nothing out there to sail to.

So with all that out of the way what suggestions do yall have to get back into the Seas or if I shouldn’t.

    As Always,

    Safe Journeys

  • @sa1tynutz 1 Suggestion: Don’t play

Sea of Thieves has this “dead game” joke that’s gotten old, but it’s now so obvious that the developers have forgotten about community building and focused on getting profit. Hourglass is still untouched despite being plagued with issues, the servers are still buggy and very unpredictable, the smugglers update is a worse merchant voyage, everyone feels repetitive and just boring, and cheaters are still unpunished.

Quite frankly some members of the community (including myself) who are active in all aspects of the game are extremely frustrated and even outraged with how lazy Rare has become. The numbers (no matter what anyone says) shows the steep decline of the game, and Rare has refused time and time again on how to properly fix their game to bring back players.

And if you say that I (as well as other “toxic” people) just harp on Rare and spew nonsense, I was one of the few who likes the smugglers, and I am trying to grind out commendations for the PVP curses. My love for the game despite its flaws has remained unchanged since I first played, but when I play with friends or solo, I can never leave the game happy, I always end up tired of the endless bullsh*t the game has to offer, and you can never get better because the game refuses to let you.

Honestly, you can try the new features if you want to see what they added, but for long term play, it has to be one of the most aggravating games I have ever played.

I totally get you, a lot of the issues you bring up seem to be reoccurring talking points from the last time I was around.

Nothing toxic about you, you're just passionate about Sot.

I would grind the hourglass, but I have both curses and past/current me thinks it's not worth the time to get more levels. I do wish you luck on your comms though.

I will most likely try the Hunter's Call content, then branch from there.

I appreciate the honest and straight forward path you take to share your experience with Sot.

  • @sa1tynutz They did add new bone colors locked mostly by commendations, so I think you may be interested in that. Hunter's Call has only 2 good voyage types (excluding the dives) so I say just the boar and the 2nd fishing voyage are worth continuously playing, but the Meg voyage is good enough to try.

  • Only thing I liked eas meg fliping ships, serious they should adapt it as some kind of ultra meg atack.

Burning Blade was fun before thry killed it brcouse streamers was not able to hop on sever and chase up noobs.
(It was in theory benefical for my crew but so much folks give up that conent went dead faster than SoSS)

There is no new cosmetic that are worthy spending gold on and no like really new mechanics.

Most folks dive to voyage do it fast sell at sov and dive agin so sveref feels anonymous at best and dead at worst.

They just added fomo month into each season in hope to make it intresting enough to pump up player numbers and went with some snake oil sound software with you guess another paid option.

If you feel nostalig, get crew, bottle of your favorite poison and go with drunk gaming.

That way you will be able to withold game quirks like pooe severs, perfomance issues, regs and low server participation from players.
