Skeletons Expansion - New Skeleton types

  • Skeletons have been a core mechanic for Sea of Thieves since as far as I can remember in the game's life. While not the most invigorating to fight, the many types of skeletons in Sea of Thieves make slight throw ups in the encounters to enjoy more. I feel like more types of skeletons and bone materials would be a nice small change that adds some new life, or I guess death, to the Sea of Thieves.

    Skeleton Variants:

    • Weakened - Only half of a skeleton, either it's legs or its torso & head. Slow crawling speed, and one attack akin to a knife heavy attack
    • Grunt - The same skeleton Variants we see today
    • Heavy - A skeleton with a giant body, but small limbs. They try to charge into players & kegs, and can resist damage taken in front while charging
    • Spectator - A black robed skeleton with 10 HP that has a chance to spawn when other skeletons spawn. The Spectator will crawl out of the ground behind a player, and attempt to do an 80 damage backstab to the player. This attack can only be cancelled by destroying the Spectator
    • Grenadier - Like a grunt, but instead of using weapons, the grenadier will stand back and attempt to throw firebombs & Blunderbombs.
    • Chanter - Chanters give additional defense to other skeletons, or deal DoT to nearby players
    • Skeleton Lord - The same skeleton lords we know today. They're fun little boss fights imo I don't think there's anything in particular wrong or stale with them.
    • Skeleton Commander - A skeleton with Naval Commander clothing that allow skeletons to fight in unison, and target one Pirate at a time. Essentially a hivemind guide.

    Bone Materials:

    • Barnacled - When destroyed, the skeleton will release a damaging pulse of lighting after a short period of time
    • Grogg-soaked - Skeleton attacks inflict temporary drunkness
    • Cursed Iron - Skeletons of iron that have a chance to have a green curseball effect imbued into their attacks

  • Kind of turning these simple skeletons (which represent "dead pirates" with some cursed or whatever. Now you wanna add...some sorta MMO type stuff?

Heavy - A skeleton with a giant body, but small limbs. They try to charge into players & kegs, and can resist damage taken in front while charging

Sorta what one of the Ocean Crawlers would or should do.

Chanter - Chanters give additional defense to other skeletons, or deal DoT to nearby players

I like to hear the lore story behind when Skeletons start doing these mystic things.

  • @boneheart1237 cool ideas, I've long thought improving the PvE in this game would do a lot for it
