Good afternoon, I am reaching out to share some ideas that I hope may reach your team.
1* For a nearer update, I would like to suggest turning contraband trade into a proper trading company, where players can level up and represent it as an emissary. This company should include a greater number of missions to increase interest in contraband, and hidden outposts across islands could be added to support this system.
2* New curses would be an exciting addition. The Megalodon curse was added relatively recently, and the way it can be obtained makes it worthwhile. However, it would be great to enhance it by including different styles based on the various Megalodons in the game (such as fire, oceanic, etc.). Similarly, a skeleton curse could be unlocked through levels or commendations. Other possible new curses could include, for example, a coral-themed one, covering the body in coral and related effects.
3* Expanding the world map with new regions would be very refreshing. While the current map is already large, players have become very familiar with the existing islands. Adding a new biome, similar to how Devil’s Roar was introduced, would bring novelty. For instance, a frozen region could be created, accompanied by a unique curse tied to the biome. This area could be highly dangerous, requiring players to carefully consider whether to enter. Features might include ice storms that slow ships and players, damage from extreme cold, and mechanics such as lighting ship lanterns (or the player’s lantern) to warm up and prevent damage. Since there are already ice-themed pets and ship sets in the Pirate Emporium, adding curses and ships in this theme to the in-game shops would be consistent. Beyond the cold, the area could include new threats such as unique Megalodons or even a new sea monster exclusive to the region. The goal would be to make this zone perilous and action-packed, with frequent encounters involving skeleton ships, Megalodons, and more.
4* The Pirate Emporium is excellent, but not every player is able to spend money there. While it is understandable to have a paid section, instead of focusing so heavily on Emporium-exclusive items, more content could be added to the regular in-game shops. This would create additional opportunities to spend gold, even if the prices were high or required commendations.
5* Perhaps the most necessary update would involve guilds and ships. Guilds are fantastic, but they could be more useful. One idea would be to allow multiple guild ships to sail together in the same session, making the experience more enjoyable and removing the current limitation of only four players. This could be implemented through a monthly membership: for example, paying €10 would grant the ability to create servers where guild members can join. Only one pirate would need to pay, while the rest could freely join. After one hour, the server could become open to all players, ensuring it is not simply a “safe seas” mode. This would encourage larger groups to play simultaneously and would allow for bigger community-driven events.
In addition to this, I would like to suggest introducing new types of ships. The existing ones are great, but they have remained unchanged since the game launched. This update could introduce three new ship types:
-
Defensive Ship: Slower, but more resistant. Cannonballs would create holes less quickly, and the ship could withstand more hits before sinking. To balance this, it would start with 10 fewer planks.
-
Fast Ship: More agile, with quicker turning and movement. However, it would deal less cannon damage, requiring multiple shots in the same place to create a hole. It would also move faster, potentially with a special boost mechanic. This ship would have standard durability but would begin with double the usual amount of cannonballs.
-
Offensive Ship: Focused on attack, with cannons dealing double the damage. However, it would be less defensive, requiring fewer hits to be damaged or sunk. To balance its power, it would carry fewer cannonballs at the start.
This variety would create greater depth in PvP, as each ship would excel in certain areas while being weaker in others. Any ship could be upgraded to one of these types upon purchase, and the choice would be permanent and irreversible.
I hope these suggestions may be of help in continuing to expand this great game. Sea of Thieves is already an incredibly fun experience, and I would be delighted if any of these ideas could make it into the game in the future. Thank you for your time and consideration.
