Black powder kegs

  • Black powder kegs should slow your movement since they basically instantly sink your ship. Would be a good way to balance them

  • How is slowing you down balanced?

  • Gonna make a wild assumption here:

You detonated a keg near or on an enemy ship, player managed to run away and heal, got back, popped you, and repaired the ship before it sank.

Which lead to you suggesting this. Cuz you got popped.

Too close to home or not? 😅

    Nothing balanced about this lol.

  • The only thing unbalanced is how easy it is to find these kegs. Stronghold and Athena kegs have always been very difficult to find. Now we have something more powerful that can be found on any island, skeleton ship, shipwreck, and in bottle missions that are easy to find

Well..it is a new season, of course they are. Over time they will be Nerf until maybe only a few can be found randomly.

Stronghold and Athena kegs have always been very difficult to find.

I find these easy to also get

As said, New season focuses on these. They will be nerf once kids get over them.

  • Presumably you mean you want the CARRIER of the keg to be slower - not the crew of the ship being attacked?

    Nah.
It would have little effect when attacking a ship and make selling them even more laborious.

LOL, I don't think they're remotely designed with balance in mind.
For me the thought must have been simple - they wipe the whole crew & the boarder. Once it pops there's no recovery, your boat is gone.
Regardless of if you jump in the water, you're dead anyway IME.

With a regular Stronghold/Mega you can possibly survive it if you're in the water, then possibly save the boat (or kill the crew to ensure a sink). These things just comically kill everything. Which is pretty funny! I feel the O.G. MegaKeg should have been this powerful, given how rare they've been in years past.

All that's not necessarily a BAD thing, I like different levels of risk / reward. I mean, If you're the type of crew who's going to carry a keg up in the crows-nest, you know that savvy crews will target that. One of these things popping up your crows-nest will wipe your crew & sink your boat! Brave crew to sail around with that all night!!

  • When you are holding one you should go slower and when you get shot holding it you should drop it. They are so overpowered, needing to be shot 3 times, with such a huge explosive radius. Forcing them to be dropped when the person holding them is shot would be fairer overall and allow people a little more option to dodge what is effectively a one hit kill on all sloops.

  • @potatosord

effectively a one hit kill on all sloops.

Au contraire, sloops are the only ships that survive.
Its been scienced and if everyone is killed on a brig and galleon by a black keg then it is sayonara due to the respawn time.

A sloop can be recovered. I've done it myself by accidentally sailing into the black keg, going kaboom and returning from ferry.
