No curseballs or bone callers for hg

  • Curseballs and bone callers are a coping mechanism for bad players and provide and unfair advantage. Majority of the community believes they need to be removed and bone callers are quite literally the worst thing added to this game. They block buckets, takes two pistol shots. Bone callers and a sword with pressure are quite literally impossible to beat unless the boarder is completely incompetent.

  • @bubby69420 I do think bonecallers are way too op for how common they are and how easy they are to apply. Also they scale poorly, curses are supposed to be better against bigger boats, bonecallers are better against smaller boats

  • "People who play this sandbox should only play the way i aprove."

One thing people never seem to understand is that hourglass is not a separate mode, it is, and always will be part of sandbox, and thus subject to the rules of sandbox. Just because a claimed majority of what is a minority group (hourglass players) dont think it should be, doesnt mean it will, or even should change.

As for it being impossible to beat bone caller+sword, then that means the only person stopping your victory against that is your self since it is possible to beat if you only use the very tool you are denouncing use of and claiming is unbeatable. If you have access and the only reason you are losing is your own refusal to utilize tools at your finger tips, thats not on rare, and thats not on the enemies who are using them, that issue is only coming from 1 person.

  • They are pretty valuable in 1v1s for quickly winning a match for the attacker when they have an advantage. So no, for the sake of speed and getting into a next match I’m 100 percent for it. Run a sword when you’re demasted because that board is coming when you don’t want it.

  • @Bubby69420 Please avoid engaging in personal arguments and derailing the topic of the thread. It is fine to debate the content of the post, and the viewpoints therein, but disrespecting any of your fellow pirates personally is against the pirate code, and our forum rules.

  • @rare-jumbie sword is simply a useless tool when is comes to higher scaling in player vs player and opens you to oneballs if your guarding ladder and isn’t fast enough for killing it’s very obvious once you get to a certain skill grade and bone callers add a unfair advantage to players who are fighting just to get a single win than to players who already have a streak and kept up consistent wins with skilled gameplay. It’s obviously something added to cope for unskilled players there’s a reason why arena was a fair match where skill lead you to a win arena had no curseballs and none of this unfair advantages they give to players who lack skill. Therefore players who won arena matches were players who had the skill too.

  • @look-behind-you it’s not disrespectful to point make points opposing their level of skill, and people making points toward me that have no objective value when they don’t have the experience to prove anything. It’s obviously an add on that sea of thieves added purely to cope for low skilled players. Which is a dumb concept considering progress in hourglass is based off of getting high streaks and maintaining them.

  • @look-behind-you and how are you calling me out when the guy replying to my suggestion is literally mocking me instead of making solid points

  • @goldsmen when both players throw a bone caller that’s 6 skeletons on your boat. If you’re the only teammate alive and there’s a significant amount of holes in your boat there’s nothing you can do. The skeletons not only slice you to bits they block your buckets. It’s simply a coping mechanism added to the game for low skilled players who have no other option. A PvP game mode shouldn’t have unfair advantages to players. It should be a skill based fight and whoever is better will win. If I have sniper sword equipped there is no time and is not even possible to change weapons when skeletons are slicing you or blundering you away from the weapon box. Also if there is pressure on your boat there is no room to blunder bomb as you need to bucket. If I regularly get boarded with pressure even though I’m bucketing I have time to kill them and recover my boat. If you are an experienced hourglass player it is objectively obvious that bone callers are an unfair advantage. There is a reason you can’t dive with kegs, there’s a reason you can’t dive with cannons of rage, their unfair advantages that you come across in the sandbox game mode.

    Hourglass isn't a game mode.
    It's a PvP-on-demand-tool/function. In a Sandbox game.
Prepare better if you don't want to face a disadvantage.

  • @thor-von-blitz it’s 100% a PvP game mode it’s only in the sandbox because of server demands. I personally don’t spend an hour stocking up on tools that give you an unfair advantage. it’s well known in the community as unethical and is only used by unskilled players who can’t hold their own without it And without this tool they can’t win. If a fight is close and both teams are competent then the deciding factor on who wins shouldn’t be a curse ball or a bonecaller it should be whichever team is better and that’s a simple fact

  • Curseballs and bone callers are a coping mechanism for bad players and provide and unfair advantage

So you a bad player because you can’t use them yourself? It all fair and balanced. Curses can be avoided and bone callers can be done with.

We might as well remove chain shots. Those who use them need a handicap. Right? Got to knock the mast down can’t fight a moving target lol

when both players throw a bone caller that’s 6 skeletons on your boat

Didn’t they say…this won’t happen?? Even still 6 targets , dead by sword before they even spawn Heck use firebombs.

  • @burnbacon 6 skeletons on the boat 100% still happens it just has to be thrown by two different players and your arguments all make zero sense when you have water pressure it’s throws every single point you made invalid

  • Had something similar like this happen to a friend and I.

We had been diving to servers, looking for something interesting, when we came to a server that had a FotD on it. We started sailing over towards the fort, when we saw another sloop heading to the same place as we were, when we suddenly got krakkened. The other sloop comes over to us, sends a boarder. He makes it on board, but gets sucked by the krakken. We quickly defeat the krakken, and then prepare for a naval fight. We circle him (I'm on helm) while my friend is on cannons. De-masted, the 2 of them start repairing and bucketing for their life, taking shots at us while we keep the pressure on. My friend shooting bone-callers and curseballs. They sink.

One of them gets a back-spawn, and attempts to climb my ladder (my friend is going thru their supplies). I blunder him off, and drop sail a bit so he can't re-grab. I said, "GG sir." to him, and thought it was over. They attempted to take advantage of our situation by boarding, killing us, and letting the krakken sink us. This player then proceeds to tell me that bone-callers and curses weren't "fair" for us to use against them, since they weren't as prepared/stocked as we were LOL. I told him I'll use whatever I can and want to defend my ship. I mean, am I not allowed to eat a pineapple because my opponent doesn't have one? Am I to take inventory of what my opponent has before the fight, in order to know what I'm not allowed to use? LOL.

Just know Bubby, players out there are stocked, equipped, and prepared with everything and anything, and will use whatever they have/want to sink you. It's why those supplies are in the game afterall LOL. Sorry you don't like having to deal with the tactics your opponent throws at you, but it's part of the game. :)

  • @europa4033 this is in adventure man I said hourglass it makes sense in this situation

  • @bubby69420

Hourglass is in adventure though. So you pretty much skip the sailing around the map looking for a fight. It still pvp On adventure seas

  • @thor-von-blitz It is a different mode though, different rules are applied to you, like not being allowed to leave an area, emergent pve can't spawn on you, you can sink when beached and you leave the server when you sink

those are all rules that aren't in adventure

  • Did they remove Defending as an option, haven't opened for HG in awhile, but assuming that is still an option this is all an invalid point as that very well means you should know when you dive that you may well end up coming up on someone who elected to be defending, which means they have just been sailing around a server able to gather up treasure and whatever else in the process (including potentially loads of supplies of all types). They are well within their right to be using those since that is part of the game. And if they don't use those and you beat them then you get to have all of them and use them as you see fit.

You could also match with someone who has decided to hop into Hourglass at the end of a session, and all the supplies that might entail. Or someone who just beat a Defender and got all their supplies and then dived to you (or matched with you when you both dived). Or maybe they got jumped right after a match and secured supplies that way.

The reality is they can still lose while having those things, they are within their right to have and use those things, and that is simply the way of it.

The reasons for those other rules that were noted (but still don't make this a separate mode, thus why people can 3rd Party your battles if they want) is because they wanted to ensure two things with a PvP on demand option: 1) that PvP will have to take place and people can't just run (thus the boundary in a battle), and 2) that there is a definitive winner and conclusion (thus the being merged to a new server).

Be prepared for anything in any fight, period.

  • Meh imagined rules.

It doesn't matter if it's in Adventure, HG, or on private custom servers. I don't take inventory of what my opponent has and say, "Oh, I can't eat any pineapple because they don't have any, and it wouldn't be right for me to have the unfair advantage." The same is true for anything in this game. Those who are prepared (as my friend and I were) will have an advantage.

You need to think on your feet in this game, and be ready for anything at a moment's notice. It builds experience to where you know what to do whenever anything happens. It's why we always call out what curse ball is affecting us, so we can react if need be, change plans, etc. based upon it.

If you want a quicker match by just spawning in, filling pockets and go, that's on you. You're choosing speed over supplies which is fine. However, if your opponent took the time to supply-up before they launched, you don't get to dictate or cry about what they choose to fire at you to help them succeed. You might as well complain that everyone should use your preferred weapon load-out.

This game isn't about just shooting guns and cannonballs. The more varied the fight, the more experience you gain, and become a better player because of it.
