skeleton crew for default ships

  • skeleton crews, how they would work is they would be like the burning blade ship, but they would be regular skeletons like on a skeleton ship, but they can bail water, but they can't go on land. if the open crew option wasn't so toxic I wouldn't be making this. also, the skeletons would disappear if a player/friend joined the crew, and if they die, they will respawn in the same amount of time a player would respawn on a certain ship. plus, this is good for people that want to do gallon but one guy leaves, or the hole crew leaves after being sunk, this would also be really good for those who also have bad experiences with the open crew option(like myself), and coastally go solo while also on the edge of their seat of other ships coming to sink them. I know sea of thieves is a co-op but that's a rare cite to see with open crew because of how toxic the game has become. Please look over this we could really use something like this... and no, the burning blade skeletons shouldn't be able to bail water if my suggestion happens, because it's huge ship that would become harder to kill if the skeletons could bail water, take a fleet of gallons to take it down.

  • Love this idea.

    "Looking for Group" Posts.

plus, this is good for people that want to do gallon

Nothing is fun than fighting a galleon, only to loose because the ONE player boards your ship while a AI controlled skeleton army is firing at you. That fine for Burning blade...

  • @mr-nugget8702

You do realize you can simply record and report toxic players right? Compared to having the developers code a skeleton crew that can bail water in order for you to solo a galleon, reporting is by far the easiest.

  • If they do this then it would have to be an unlockable feature otherwise every boat you go on will have a skeleton army on their boat, this should be unlocked by a hard commendation.

  • @burnbacon yeh good luck getting pirates on group posts , most of them will probably just join and leave or they will join and won’t know what they are doing, i even tried discord and the same thing happened.

With skeleton ai as long as they are not too op and there isn’t as much id say this will be okay.

  • This would greatly help solo players, who have a hard time leaving their ship. Love it.

  • @hegemon3

As a fellow solo. Why do I feel threaten more by this?
AI skeletons that do most the work on a ship. While you’re free to leave a ship, which is meant to be a thing. Undefended.

What stopping the AI from attack passing ships who wish to be friendly? Sneak on a ship and tuck?

Players already complain about the increase npc on islands. They aren’t ready for npc ai skeleton pals.

So instead of playing with a crew with varying degrees of experience (some veteran, some learning), you'd prefer if Rare just had AI skeletons on your ship instead doing everything?

Yea, cuz for a minority of people asking for this, it checks out their fantasy of being a captain of a big ship, while not having to learn how to actually sink Skeleton Galleys while themselves getting sunk on their Sloop in SS 😅 They just they want all the benefits of a galley, not just the looks, to make their Netflix & Seas (as @capt-greldik likes to call it 😄) even easier.

Cuz if they actually think skeletons are the missing link to give them any chance on High Seas, they're in for a big reality check.

Like come on, no need to dance around. Say outright you want all the galleon perks when soloing Safer Seas. So it can be denied right away and moved on.

Usually, these same types of players are the ones opening topics how they want kick button to kick someone from their ship because they're the "captain", complaining about how Skeleton ships are too strong, exaggerating how they spam 90 shots in 10 seconds (that was a fun one lol), etc... which is very ironic if you ask me, wanting to have those same skellies on your ship 😁

Gameplay loop has left the building lol. There is no concrete logic to be found here, except for "I want!" under the excuse of "toxic" people.

  • Enough skeletons, really. Its being boring already. Bonecallers, order of bone and blade that do job for you, you dont even need to be somewhat good at island to find a chest anymore. Even that got simplified to bits. And now you want actual bots with bots aim on cannons as well as bailing and repairing for you. They gonna be better than an average SoT players. Nothing good will come out of that.

    Too much skeletons recently...

  • @burnbacon I know discord has a crew finder, but they mostly only do +18, hourglass, or reapers bones usually

  • @europa4033 there are too many toxic players that it probably wouldn't even matter if they got reported

  • @r3vanns clearly your ship has never been burnt down by a random in open crew more than once

Clearly I didn't give a damn about it cause it's just a game mate, and not a matter of life and death. You should try it as well.

Also, eventually if you don't wanna deal with open crew anymore, that's why you have SoT Discord. To find people willing to do the same thing you want. Maybe it's gonna take some time to find them, but if Open Crew bothers you that much, then it's worth a wait.

Once you do find a crew, make sure to, you know... be a regular normal fun dude, to add those people to your friendlists if they suit you, and at some point, maybe you won't have to search for people anymore.

Meanwhile just chill, either in HS or SS.

People are way more civilized on SoT Discord, and rarely ever someone joins just to troll people.

  • @xorzius Tools not rules. Nothing is locked or unlockable aside from cosmetics. Anything that can actually change the gameplay being unlockable would make it broken. Remember, Rare changed a sail that had too aggressive of a cutout because it gave rich players an advantage poorer non PL players couldn't take advantage of.

  • The reason they can't do this is because it likely would often be the case that a person who isn't confident on cannons would just helm while their AI cannons. You would often just have people basically watching as the AI plays the game for them. It wouldn't be about skill, it would be about whos AI has better luck.

Yeah your points seems valid. I need to rethink that.
Actually all I miss as a solo is having someone who can keep my ship afloat when I'm not there. I just can't leave the ship and have some offensive fun, because most likely I'll end up sank. It's painful.

  • It's a good idea. My brother and I have discussed it a couple times. We have a small group of players, but we just cannot often get on at the same with work or family obligations.

Perhaps an interesting way to accomplish this would be to make the player pay to recruit NPCs whose look is created randomly from the options in the character creator. You can recruit them in the tavern for a certain gold price, maybe 10k. They would be limited, of course, maybe no bailing like the BB crew or they can only perform one task from a list: fire cannons, repair, bail, etc. That way they are not as efficient as playing with other players who can do every task, but you can get one to do that job you hate. I'd make mine bail personally.

  • I totally agree with this addition... but only in Safer Seas.
Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if an AI crew would soon be available for solo Sloop players.
For those who say this wouldn't be possible, they're probably forgetting that it's already possible, but on the Burning Blade.

The only reason I'd be in favor of adding an AI crew for solo players is so that these players don't feel alone on their ship. Also, even if the skeleton does nothing but walk around the ship, that would be nice.
