Dropped out of True Achievement's Top 30 xbox games this week...
😱
The game is dead: Fact Check Status=True
Look at the number of new games.
GoW Reloaded, Hollow Knight, Borderlands, Helldiver(xbox)No game is perfect, with only two games that have more changes than most because that is there IP. MC and Fortnite, so they stay "fresh"
It seems to feel like a war against solo sloopers has been going on for awhile now.
I quit playing around the time the nerfed the blunderbuss as it had become “Sea of Nerfs” I’m back now but LFG is 50-147 looking for and a year ago it was 250 ish posts.
Rare knows this hence they are bringing in private servers next year at a subscription in hopes that NAL and Sea Of Champion type events and servers will save the game. Add this with essentially a full release of multiplayer safer seas at a subscription cost.
Yeah less gold and such but do you honestly think the PVE players will care when they can have 100% safe servers with friends?

Dropped out of True Achievement's Top 30 xbox games this week...
😱It's a Top 40 list that they do and, yes, the game dropped out of it for that week.
But it's important to note that Borderlands 4 released that week and Hollow Knight: Silksong the week before. Both of those games are extremely popular right now, they were 7 and 8 on TA's list that week, and Top 5 most played on Steam currently. And Silksong is also on Game Pass.
I think what we're seeing is that players are spreading their time between Sea of Thieves and other games more these days. We're in the busy season for big game releases now, so expect more of that.
I'm not going to argue that the game hasn't dropped off a lot, but I think it's far from dead, and we are 7.5 years into its life cycle. I'm sure Rare know better than anyone how the game is performing, and things like the recent Insider Survey are an indication that they are trying to listen to player feedback.
I have been critical of decisions Rare have made for the game myself, and I do think it's important to share constructive feedback, but I think we should avoid schadenfreude, and wallowing in a perceived untimely demise. It doesn't really achieve anything other than create a chasm between the players and the developers.
The game isn’t dead. But it has lost a lot of players, the game is stale, buggy and server performance is terrible. Not to mention ugly cosmetics and reskinned existing items. I guess they would rather reskin items and add pride flags rather than any actual content. The game is like 7 years old, not sure how much more content the engine and server can handle, they might as well upgrade to UE5 but I doubt that’ll happen considering how low the player numbers are at least going off steam.
@itzeggward I don’t take it as fear mongering, the game has seen a steady decline in players and quality over the years, it is inevitable that it’ll come to an end sooner or later when rare or Microsoft see no reason to continue due to a lack of revenues I for one don’t buy ancient coins and I’m sure a lot others don’t either so I doubt that game is making a lot of money.
@xdreegan why would Xbox / Playstation players keep grinding while PC players start to abandon the game?
I'm on PC, and everyone who I talked about this the last months agrees that the seas are way more quiet than last year or before that. I sometimes during a session see no other boats, or just one. Whereas before more boats would appear, and this has been going on for a while.
Why would this not the be the case for players who only play on a console?
I still enjoy playing the game after 2k hours, but things are slowly getting more and more quiet.
It's the second time i see a graph like this (6 millions players monthly down to less than a million) : https://imgur.com/a/DxLEVBj
The first time it was from a website that isn't showing those graphs anymore (activeplayers dot io) , and this graph i just shared is from mmo-population dot com.
If we really lost 5 players out of 6 it's just sad tbh, but it's hard to know how those websites count to begin with.
But given the fact that mods seems to remove links to player count websites without warning, Rare doesn't want us to talk about it.

The guns and sword are still superior in every way.
Nope - 2 knives in a row is the fastest 2-tap in the game (barring quick-swap exploits), you can 2-tap them before they are able to eat.
I did use the new kegs, and I see them as the highest risk loot. It is a guaranteed sink for newer crews who don't know how to handle kegs, and those who do just hate dealing with protecting them.
Maybe you aren't using the omega-kegs for their true potential. You should be more creative.
Adventures being the worst honestly may be ragebait. Even if they low engagement, they offered a story that expanded on the lore, and the rewards were pretty cool.
They were cancelled because the cost/benefit ratio was too low - less people did adventures than Arena (last I heard), and the expense was WAY too high for a feature nobody (statistically) was actually interested in.
Being the worst feature is insane to say, we still have hourglass.
Exactly: we still have hourglass - it's lasted WAY longer than Adventures, and has higher engagement, ergo, it is a better feature (even if I personally dislike it)
I've been hearing this same statement for 7+ years.
