@ORI0Npadfoot I am confused as to what you think pirate deeds were? Seemed pretty explanatory that it was a fresh character. If you wanted to change your look you could have just used the cosmetic potions instead? I don't see the point of pirate profiles at all honestly. Other than if you want a fresh start on cosmetic collections because they wont let us save favorites, or to sell the old ugly cosmetics back to clean up our chests. As you have pointed out you have family share which allows you free extra profiles anyway.
@r333f Pirate profiles were something requested like 8 years ago because an extremely small amount of people only got enjoyment from the game seeing the EXP bar go up after selling loot. So those people deleted their pirates to start over so they could get their EXP bars back.... Weird mentality. Especially now when there's an endless grind with milestones and everything else. Plus the game was heavily dependent on FOMO, moreso than now anyway. So the idea of deleting a pirate that had those no longer obtainable cosmetics seems like madness to me.
Giving us the option now just seems like desperation. Even their oldest player base like myself with 100% achievement progression and almost 5,300 hours played barely wants to login any more. I do 3-4 days a season to max out my renown and regain my 100% status when new achievements are added. I think their hope is that people like me with a congested cosmetic chest might want a fresh start. They don't understand the players mindset. This is a cosmetic collection game. As much as I wish I could deleted 90% of my cosmetics now due to lack of them adding favorites... I would never throw away the stuff I earned or time spent to unlock the stuff I actually do want.
It's similar to their idea of charging a monthly fee to be able to play with multiple ships on safer seas.... I have wanted PvE servers since my friends quick 1 month after launch. They really think in a cosmetic driven game that people would pay a monthly fee to not be able to play on their hard earned ship and be able to make progress?
Oh... I just thought of why pirate profiles exist... The same reason the reaper voyage has so many map indicators of where you are, the reason the burning blade was even conceived, the reason smugglers runs exist now give predictable routes to setup traps and ambushes... This is literally just a quality of life feature for Twitch streamers so they don't need to log over to new accounts if they want to be on a new pirate that people would be less likely to recognize? Though wouldn't it still show your handle? Anyway point is they have been pushing Twitch as their primary marketing for a while now to get new players into the game. So anything they can do to help with streamer shenanigans.
