Return to the Sunken Kingdom

  • Seeing as the Devil's Roar is going to get a much needed face-lift come season 18 I thought I'd chicken in some ideas for revitalizing another area of the map that I also feel has been left by the wayside and that is the Sunken Kingdom.

First they should make the Breath of the Sea available at all Treasuries and Shrines not just in messages in a bottle.

Secondly, make the Breathe of the Seas drinkable potions that buff players in certain ways.

Blue - Breath under water (2 minutes)
    Green - Swim 3x faster (2 minutes)
Red - Double Health (2 minutes)

You can only drink one potion at a time. That being said the coral message in a bottles will now not only lead you to a shrine with all three potions but a 4th purple potion as well that gives the player all three abilities for 2 minutes. Not only does the player now have incentive to do treasuries and shrines for gold but for an advantage in the game.

Also with this update a new siren enemy type, weapon, throwable, and random encounter would be added.

The Storm Siren - these sirens have a trident that shoots lightning dealing massive damage to the player. The lightning also chains so any crewmates within a certain radius of you will also be affected. These sirens can also call upon electric ocean crawlers to board your ship which will make sense when I explain the random encounter.

The storm trident is a powerful but not super accurate weapon. Better for PvE than PvP. Once you obtain one you have six shots with it which can chain lightning enemies (great for forts) but also this weapon can put big holes on boats as well. This weapon can be recharged with water.

The new random encounter is a siren raid. When sailing your boat might stop due to a small radius of Kraken ink. But this is not a kraken. This is a Siren Raid here you'll have 5 storm sirens and 5 siren leaders attempting to sink your ship. As I mentioned these storm siren tridents have the ability to put holes in boats and summon electric ocean crawlers to distract you. The reward from this encounter is 10 siren gems, 5 storm trident, 5 regular Tridents, a crate of Kraken ink bombs, and a chest of ancient tribute. Also if you happen to sink due to the raid the sirens will take your loot as well. So there's no sailing back to where you sunk in hopes of getting back your loot.

Which just leaves the Kraken ink bombs. These are a new throwable that can blind and slow down enemies if hit. If a ship is hit with the the ship will also slow down. These are only obtained through the siren raid.

  • Secondly, make the Breathe of the Seas drinkable potions that buff players in certain ways.

Making them easy to get with your First idea would be too powerful. Easy to find and newer fresh spawn players fighting that one crew who happens to have “double health” mix with an already broken DG quick shooters.

It's not that easy. Idk if you've noticed but Treasuries and Shrines are completely out in the open. And while they aren't overly complicated to complete. You are still leaving your boat completely vulnerable in some cases and understaffed in other cases. Plus the kind you get is randomized. You're not guaranteed to get a red Breath of the Sea everytime you do one.

  • I think there should be some way to breathe better underwater, using the potion to do other stuff like more health and swim speed increase could really really break PvP. It would be hard to balance it.

They do not give players any way to damage boats without cannons or long term fire damage for a reason. Any tool that could be used to do damage to a boat without a boat is just too powerful. I could swim up to your boat, and use this tool to demast you, and then keep slamming you with shots from the water, without a boat. And because water reloads it, you have infinite boat breaking ammo you cna use anywhere you could walk. Way too powerful to ever be balanced.

Wow you really do not understand why this game works the way it does. Player sized enemies can never do damage to your ship without a cannon for a reason. This would be overpowered and would cause you to have to deal with too much at once. You basically already have to dodge and snipe from the top deck with regular sirens, or engage them directly in the water. Your boat sinking and losing all the loot is also not something they would add. They already made it so that if you sail into the red sea you and sink your loot comes back on the edge of the map.

Vomit already exists. Also worthless as a throwable if you can only get it from a world event you don't get any control in triggering.

  • Player sized enemies can't do damage to the boat?

Gunpowder skellies and ashen lords can both do damage to your ship.

As per the the trident there are ways to balance it. You could make each shot have to charge up or have to cool down between shots. You could give it a very loud audio cue when being charged. Plus I only ever intended for it to do damage to the hull not the mast, anchor, or helm.

Then as for the throwable you can add a crate of them to the Kraken which already doesn't give you enough loot as is. Also vomit doesn't physically slow down player movement.
