Rifle with bayonet

  • So in pirates of the Caribbean there are gaurds that have these weapons that are rifles with bayonets.

    I think we should be able to use these, it would be like the eye of reach but with a little less damage than the eye of reach but more damage that the pistol obviously and if you hold the shoot button you can use these bayonet as a melee attack.

    This is basically eye of reach but without scope and a little less damage.

    I don’t see a problem with this since its in a pirates movie so it definitely exists in pirate days.

  • Oh and the range would be less than the eye of reach but more range than the pistol so pretty much this weapon is between the pistol and eye of reach

    So people who use double-gun as load-out will have a melee weapon ? The "balance" of running out of ammo after 5 shots per weapon will be removed if this would be added.

  • There is no gun which has any ability to do damage when it runs out of ammo for a reason. For game balance, if any gun was also a small sword that gun would be unbalanced or would have to be made so bad as both a gun and a sword that players wouldn't enjoy it. Plus it would be a weapon that can attack quicker than switching from a gun to a sword, so it would inherently have to do low damage to be balanced.

  • I think it could be a cool idea, but to balance it, here's the following suggestion:

    Right clicking will allow you to toggle the rifle like a hip fire flintlock, or a melee after a 1.2 second long animation or so, almost like half a reload

    Rifle Mode

    • Slowest reload animation in the game
    • 2 shots
    • 60 damage

    Bayonet Mode

    • 30 damage jab
    • 1 second cool down
    • 60 damage lunge, 0.8 second charge time, slows your character down

    At the same time, the concept might not make it out of the rule of cool bin. The balance of carrying 2 weapons has been a game mechanic since as far as I remember. The knives being ranged and melee were already pushing the boundaries of balance, so this would need similar tuning, and PLENTY of Insiders testing.

    TL;DR

    At the end of the day, I think it's a neat close range hybrid idea between a hip fire flintlock and throwing knife. It very much could fit in the balance and encourage some fun aggressive plays, but it needs SEVERAL months of tuning to fit within the balance of 2 weapons

    I think the jab is too much damage, especially for a 1 second reload.

    Oh boy. Well if they don’t adjust the reload speed then it be just another quick shooter
