I think a lightweight feature that would add a lot of new interactions in the sandbox would be the ability to Lock a Storage Chest, creating a physical key for it, as well as lockpicks players can use to crack them open, in addition to Ashen Chests, and possible new loot items that are locked or chests with locked content

So someone could swim away with the key in hourglass just before they fade to black after their loss, causing the victor to lose the key to the storage crate they found, therefore losing all the supplies that the loser had.

Locking storage crates in general is probably a bad call. Tbh, I didn't think it could be done. I was only thinking of the captains chest or other items with a key
Also, you can still lockpick it open
