Naval forces against pirates

  • With season 17 come the smugglers. But smuggling in a sea full of pirates makes sense? In the game 'good' guardian pirates fight against 'bad' reaper pirates. But what about some faction that represents the law? Like naval forces. Naval ships could search the seas like skeleton ships looking for pirates. But if you look like a merchant ship or some legal stuff they let you go. In this case smuggling would be a real thing in the sea of thives.

  • Would skele ships then ignore reaper emmissarys? Mayhaps they could consider letting some crews sail instead of as pirates they could be legitimate law enforcers trying to deal with those pirates. Similar to how reapers would be visible to all, they would too, just representing a different reason to be hunting ships, that being, taking down pirates.

It would also mean certain factions being supported would how valuable as a target you are to those law enforcing players. Merchants and Hunter's Call? Ignore or Defend their business is legitimate...unless you need a fishing license or the fish are considered protected species XD

Gold Hoarders and Order of Souls? GH would be treasures to be secured away from filthy pirates and OoS would probably be outlawed occult practices to be squashed.

Athenas and Reapers - High priority targets to be sunk. Reapers because they represent 'true pirates' and Athenas because these are some of the most famous/infamous pirates and are trying to unite pirates which law enforcers dont want pirates working together against them.

    Pirates and legal stuff ?

We're all pirates and thus in case of a faction representing the law, we're all a target for them.

Perhaps the Sovereigns will prove to have some authority and won't comply with the Smugglers (or smugglers don't trust / work with Sovereigns), just as they used to do with Reapers and with the exception of flags in some cases still do.
