Swords on hip

  • It has come to my attention that all these years a pirate does not have its sword on its hip when picked in your armory.
I would like to see an update where if you attach your sword it comes visible on your hip.
And ofcourse if you take the sword into your hand that it gets removed from the hip untill you put it back.

Would love to see this future added!
    Greetings, Sven

  • Wanna see the sniper on the back too, one NPC (lonecove) has it.

Let everyone know what weapons you have and give them the advantage.

A minor flaw, but still a nice idea.

  • I think it goes along the same lines as anchors on boats. We know that they should be there, but there isn't much of a reason to do it, and it adds complexity. Does the sword just magically attach to the side of you? Does it have a matching scabbard to its theme? If you are a barebones skeleton curse, how does your sword stay on your hip? Even if they added a belt to hold the sword, it would have to change with each outfit since each outfit is a different size

Then you have different body shapes on top of that where some outfits will cover part of the sword and the sword clipping through other object also, probably isn't worth the dev time.

Seen plenty of games where swords, guns and other weapons are just magically floating up against the player, looks terrible in most cases.

They could make it so only your crew and alliance sees it?

  • The only way this idea can work without looking messy is if it's specifically tied to a costume where the weapons you have equipped appear attached on it and the animation of taking out your weapon is changed to be specific to that costume.

Would be cool, yea. Though I already see issues with costumes like Spinal, who already has shield and sword on his back + an exclusive emoji that actually uses them

Yep, no one-size-fits-all solution here. They shouldn't just pick a spot on a player model and call it a day. Different body types, all the different types of clothes (and combinations, like only shirt, or shirt+jacket, belt off/on, and all the costumes, etc).

They'd need to edit almost every single model to avoid clipping, which I sadly doubt they'll ever do. Way too many cosmetics and combinations in the game.

Sure, they could just put an approximate offset on a character hip position, but would it really look good? If I saw a sword levitating 5 inches away from a character's hip, that would just look bad and sloppy to me.

TL:DR - shame that the game wasn't already created with this feature, though I just cannot see this getting implemented after so many years.

Would be cool for every weapon to be visable. Sniper, blunder and harpoon on back. Sword, blowpipe and pisol on hips. Knives and throwables on the chest area. Would also allow you to assess your opponent.
