Will I get the Cobalt Kestrel set?

  • Hi all,

Not sure if this has been addressed, but I couldn't find an answer!

On the Battlenet launcher, I'm unable to purchase Sea of Thieves, as it says I already own it. I log into Battlenet with my Xbox account, so it's cool that it shows up as owned, whether from my MS Store ownership or Game Pass subscription.

The thing that I'm wondering is: Will I receive the Cobalt Kestrel set as a result of my "ownership" through Battlenet? Or will I have to purchase a different edition of the game in order to qualify?

    Thanks in advance!

  • They have a beta on the 2nd of may I believe. Once you start the game, you get the items. If not, you have to wait until the actual release

  • Update: Yes, you can get all the cosmetics right now, if you have Deluxe Edition or Premium edition. Simply start the game through Battle.net and hop into a server, you should be able to see all the sails/weapons now. They stay if you swap to Xbox/Microsoft or Steam too! (not Sony/PlayStation though)

The following comes from Blizzard Support.

"Unfortunately, the Cobalt Kestrel weapons are exclusive to players who pre-order the game on Battle.net. Since you purchased the full digital copy from the Xbox Store in 2018, you are not eligible for this specific pre-order bonus, as it requires a pre-order through Battle.net.

Additionally, while your Microsoft account and Battle.net account are linked, and you own the standard edition on Battle.net, this does not grant access to the pre-order bonus. The bonuses are tied to the specific purchase made at the time of pre-ordering.

Being a Game Pass member also does not affect eligibility for pre-order bonuses, as these are strictly linked to the pre-order process on the platform where the game was purchased."

Although it's disappointing, this is exactly the answer I needed. Thanks!

  • @itz-majman If I were to purchase the game on Battle Bet to get the cobalt krestel weapon set, do I need to login on Battle net to claim them, or can I get them from just joining a server on Xbox? Since I dont have access to launching it on Battle net (I dont have a computer), thank you!

I believe you technically have them if you did a pre-order, I do think you need to start the game through Battle-net to gain the items but I know in the past that you can contact Rare-support and they can add the items if you have proof of purchase but that was mainly between PC & Xbox, can't say how it works through Blizzard though.
