  • I still don't get the obsession with trying to TDM in an open world adventure game ,when there are FPS games out there designed specifically for that skillset which do it a lot better and more consistently. As someone who played a lot of Call of Duty in my 20s and 30s, I just don't understand the appeal of it.

But, sure, if it gets the TDMers off servers where they annoy the rest of the playerbase. Go ahead, Rare.

  • I could def use some TDM practice.

    What are you proposing?
Like 4-12 pirates spawn on a closed server on one of the Medium - larger islands? No boats.
Timer or Kill count & leaderboards..

  • This rare would need to create a separate server..and require new rules, settings and such.
Didn’t work then, won’t work again

    Too much resources spread out.

  • No mode needed, spike a server via hourglass (not difficult) and fight each other that way.

  • @realstyli

I want it specifically to practice cqc and to be able to get instant feedback when I make adjustments to my sensitivity settings. Earning allegiance in the process would be the cherry on top.

I have always said the controller response curves in this game are bad and it’s primarily because the start of the curve is uselessly slow and wastes an extremely controllable portion of a joysticks range just outside of the dead zone.

This initial slowness you need to get past every single time you cross the dead zone of a joystick frequently causes players to over compensate and thus over aim missing their target.

This plays a huge role in why controller players will frequently say they are much more confident in naval combat than close quarters combat.

I wish Rare understood this concept and adjusted the beginning of the controller response curves accordingly. Controller players would benefit massively if this change were to be implemented.

One other controller setting that I think could be improved is more control and fine tuning of the size of the dead zone. The difference between point 1 and point 2 is huge and it would make a big difference if controller players could adjust the dead zone in smaller increments.

  • I love how folks create problems not solutions only to flex with snarky responses. Probably best pvp they cloud pull off.

Rare cloud just make "Voyage to TDM" when you dive, sit in tunell and then pop up with X ships on same island and then it's up to player to figure out what to do next.

I would much more enjoy possibility to duel with my own crew.

With would allow to improve my hand to hand combat.

  • @burnbacon doesn't have to be a separate server. It could work the same as hg, just with a different ruleset.

  • @tesiccl spiking servers is a pain, doesnt give you a nice amount of supplies to work with, and means you're only fighting friends compared to having a matchmaker. It's not a good solution, and to suggest it is would just be wrong.

  • @fysics3037 that’s assuming Rare agree with the idea of TDM’s being endorsed, which at this point considering how Arena died (partly cause of TDM’s) I have major doubts. Considering how little people want to TDM and the overall direction the game is flowing (towards casual and a low skill ceiling) I don’t see Rare implementing something like this.

  • @tesiccl well obviously if it's the only thing to do then people are going to continue doing it, but in no way is spiking servers a replacement for a proper tdm feature. IDC if you think Rare's gonna do it or not, this is a feedback thread and the devs are fully capable of making that decision themselves. Saying you think the devs will or won't do something is unproductive.

  • @fysics3037 I’m sure they’ll put this suggestion on top of the other ones asking for the same thing over the years. They’ll get to that pile eventually… ;)
