Burning Blade is too Rare now

  • Following the latest update, the BB became very rare to find. I know you did it for server performance issues, but now we are getting ashen winds, ghost fleet and skeleton fort way too often in the WE rotation. These are events that are now super accessible with the dive mechanic in both high seas and safer seas, and the special loot they give for commendations is findable in dive raids too. The only special thing about OG forts are gifts, which can easily be re-assigned to roaming skeleton captains maps or even as a chance inside ashen chests dropped by ashen guardians. I still need to sink my 2 last commanded BB and I can't even find a spawned one anymore. The BB is one of the latest best additions to the game, I really don't want to see her disappear for game performances reasons. IMO, world events rotation needs to be reconsidered.
For example, deleting ashen winds, og skelly forts and ghost fleet from the world event rotation and making them available only as dive raids. This would still allow players to finish commendations and unlock cosmetics while also offering players of the server "new" loot (gold reliquary, orb of soul and so on) in case of pvp encounters and also avoid players to wait for an eternity for an undesired event to despawn. Skeleton fleet should stay as a spawned event, since it gives decent loot and helps players to achieve quick grade V as Reapers and help to gain ashen tomes and barnacle chests.

Could have been pretty decent, but the severe exploits and the excessive and unfun comms and the damaging patch for organic appeal really made it more of just a pve server hog that people could sink near an outpost for a little loot to sell.

Literally all world events are better than the BB turned out to be, because they have a higher chance of creating some pvp outside of just hoppers looking for the few higher ritual bbs out there.

I saw it every day after the exploits and patch and it was very predictable 90% of the time. Pve boat that people ignored/or grabbed the chest out of, or just something people used as freebie loot by sinking it by the sovereigns.

People act like it was some big tough boat. Only in the control of a solid gally crew or a really solid brig crew. It was silly for smaller crews and casual players. Very little interesting participation.

That reaper change was completely unnecessary and the finishing move on that piece of content that was already gonna struggle.

If they wouldn't have rushed to cater to a little of the louder feedback they would have seen how many bbs get taken out without any problem by solid pvp crews. And how many could be taken out by casual crews because casual crews are the ones that stick with content.

The "running" thing was never a real thing. It was people failing to sink a boat in the first few days of new content. Once people fought a bunch of them it's just routine, like everything else in sot.

I have seen it in most games I have played. Maybe just a timing thing for you?

Yes we must eliminate the sailing part of the game! But no seriously, this is a ridiculous suggestion. SoT is built on World Events being focuses for the server where experienced players will gather and meet. They aren't made to be PvE grinding wheels where you just do them over and over. The PvE doesn't have enough depth for that. Players are already getting sick of the PvE due to S11's diving changes making that grind wheel play style the optimal choice. That's leading to a diminished adventure experience and player base. If anything SoT needs to get back to the days of sailing around doing world events and slowly accumulating loot throughout a session. And they can do that by reevaluating the loot payouts and ensuring that it is always best to do a WE or quest without diving if players have the time.

  • @fysics3037 this is still affordable in therms of hours in a session just for unemployed people, kids without parent control and basement neckbeards. People have lives, and this is just a game to have some breaks and relax after an exausting day. The game you are talking about was pre dive mechanic sot, the game that required insane amounts of hours played for a couple world events and caused a lot of people to have burnouts and quit the game. I'm kinda happy with the game state right now (server performances and outopost cosmetics drops not included) since now it can harbour a lot of different playstyles, but some content is pretty outdated and needs a bit of freshness.
I really don't think you are still fighting people for an og skeleton fort or a ghost fleet since no one (not even new players) are doing them anymore. The contesting component would remain, but with reward balanced to the current gold economy / commendations grinding.

  • @blazebeard2313 they can keep diving good, but it shouldn't be on the same level as playing on one server. If you only have an hour or two to play, that's fine, but for the people with 3+ hours, diving should not be the defacto option.

  • At the very least if we reduced the spawn rate we should have reduced the commendations to match. But they've never done this before (look at fruit crates -- doesn't even have a voyage anymore).

  • I still see it kinda often, I feel like it's fine, needed to be rare to be honest.

I wanna agree with you but my main issue with it is, that it's this big scary looking ship you don't attack without a thought (if player owned) but once you own it you are locked to do stale PvE-puzzles that doesn't change at all. You rarely get attacked because the ship itself is extremely strong and can take on most people, experienced or not. If it promoted attacking other crews, maybe getting some HG-rep or something if you sink someone, then it would've been interesting but in it's current state it's something people do for the comms and move on, sadly.

  • I don't think they need to remove dives. I think they can just balance BB in the rotation and make a dive for it. I have not seen it in a while, even diving and looking for it. I see everything else just fine.
