Golden Treasured Fish

  • I really like the new fishing voyages for Hunter's Call... but I think they suffer the same thing as most voyages and events now in the game - they are too predictable and become stale rather fast as a result of lack of variety. One way to really shake this up would be to include a low chance for higher tier loot.

In the case of fishing, I propose the Golden Treasured Fish. This fish could be worth 20K gold base (30K gold when sold to HC directly) which would put it just above a cooked Trophy Shadow Stormfish in terms of value.

An alternative suggestion might be to have a Golden variant of each Treasured fish and have it worth a multiple of that fish's value. e.g. A Golden Treasured Leopard Devilfish could be worth 10x its normal value, so 15K gold base (22.5K gold to HC directly).

Mechanically, in order to prevent players re-rolling voyages to find one, they would appear as normal fish until caught and then a gold curse takes them over when exposed to the air. I would envisage this being a fancy effect where the gold sparkles as it covers the fish.

    Discuss.

  • I think weight with guild/personal ledgers pretty much would make fishing as good as it could be as far as longevity goes. Record and reward.

This suggestion works as well and could even add on to the above.

Slight tangent off this because it just came to me, but what about scales to weigh the fish at the Hunter's Call representative. We can sell the fish as-is for the value they are by default or we could risk weighing before selling which would modify the value based on the "actual" weight, so you could end up [for example] getting +/-10% the value if it's over/under weight. Having this as an optional task means players can choose to engage in it or not.

For those who engage, the weight is also added to (as you say) their ledger. For bragging rights only, the top fisherfolk in the guild, by weight, get a title for the month (Guild Fish Master or something), with the title transferring each month if someone beats them or if they don't partake.

    Just an idea.
