Buff Barnacled Dread?

  • Getting level 5 hunters and going on meg hunts is a fun gameplay loop. My crews have been enjoying it a lot.

The Barnacled Dread is a lot easier than Redmaw. I would love to see a buff to this Meg. Here’s a couple ideas.
    —————————————————————

    • It can charge a move that strikes lightning to players who aren’t under cover.

    • It could spawn the big crab brutes after the armor is gone (though I don’t love fighting those guys) .

    • It’d be cool if it shot an electric goop onto the deck that you had to navigate around and avoid until it dissipates.

  • I def don't think either meg needs a buff in difficulty.

One thing I've noticed about the dread is that it re-grows its armor after barely even leaving the area, (at least that happened when I was soloing one)

That shouldn't happen imo, at least not in a short amount of time when barely out of the immediate fight zone.

but I def don't see a reason to buff either of the megs.

Both were quite challenging to solo. Large experienced crews can make light work of anything in SoT. It's a good challenge as it is for most boats/crews on SoT, imo.

  • hahaha, this a first. Buff a new Meg because it’s easy? But I’ve heard a few posts saying he takes to long to do (difficult) and needs to be nerf

I say he fine. But thing I like to remind….we are getting something new in March or April that may…make fighting these things easier.
    Watch the reveal trailer again….

  • I found the redmaw impossible to solo. Could be that I was fighting another sloop and a skelly ship spawn at the same time, but there was no window to shoot it with the time needed to recover solo.

  • Redmaw definitely can be a tougher fight if you dont balance repair and offense. If you can block most of its bites, its nowhere near as bad.. but if you're taking the godzilla aoe explosion damage as well as the hefty bite and fire, yeah it can be really tough to keep up with.

Barnacle seems like a longer, but less lethal fight, whereas redmaw is somewhat shorter but the damage can get away from you quick.
