The Megalodon Voyages

  • Hi. We I'm sure we already heard about the Megalodon curse. Pretty cool, ya? I watched most (if not all) of the new videos put out, and am really excited for April, the Meg curse, and Meg Voyages. I only have one question: Is the Shrouded Ghost part of the Megalodon quest encounter? As in, can we find it? Rarity doesn't have to be changed, but here's the kicker: maybe finally, Legendary Hunter of The Shrouded Ghost is possible at long last.

    I'm not complaining, just wondering.

Also, did anyone else notice the white Gem on Sharkbait and the cannons and figurehead for this season? Looks like something's coming that we don't know about. Even Merrick says so!

I don't know but I'm 99.95% certain that you wont get Shrouded while doing the voyage. From being crazy rare to something you fight simply by dropping a voyage, doesn't seem likely

  • This isn't a fact but my theory is that the shrouded has always been its own unique spawn outside of anything to do with the other megs.

Which is why people haven't figured out a way to exploit it, with a simple and rare unique spawn formula it would be near impossible to exploit.

Alliance servers not successfully farming them really leans into that.

Probably just carries over with the meg voyages, nothing to do with them, and (hopefully) out of the design that can be exploited.

  • I still think it'd be a great idea. Just a small hope of mine. I understand that some people like it, and some people don't. It's around 50/50 in the community, with 25% of the first 50 probably thinking it doesn't actually exist lol. I like the idea since I'm a completionist.

I've hunted megs just about every day for a very long time. I've seen and killed ghosts. It's entirely fair to say that I had my time in the game. That's true. I have had my time in the game and I'm not owed anything.

To me the question is, why rob those that haven't lived those adventures yet? For what? the same thing that happened to the box of secrets? Some twitter likes? a completion screenshot? How is that worth taking it away from others?

The ghost has always been a status buster. Those in the cliques never had control over it and it always could happen to anyone. Someone with very little could have the shrouded ghost kill.

As vocal as I have been about the organic experience and not cheesing this game, it's not me that loses from the significance being removed, I already experienced it. Many have not, those are the ones that lose out every time something is turned into just another common screenshot, another common tale, another check off the list of stuff to show off about.

There has to be conservation and preservation in this adventure experience or it's just some game to toss aside after a few hours, another giant game to uninstall for more space on the hard drive.

The box is still rare, as I have never seen it. Many haven't either. I can see your point, and I kind of agree, yet disagree. Even with the luck voyages. It would still be rare in my opinion, and many don't even know about it. There's the flip side where someone would want to re-live it again and again, and that's more the point. Another big thing for me is I feel it would not be removing from the experience. The Shrouded Ghost chances are so low, that it wouldn't matter anyway. Maybe it'd be more common, but nowhere to the point of 'a common tale'. Heck, people find maybe 11 Shrouded Ghosts a day according to an older forum post. There's already a lot of conservation of adventure with tall-tales, setting your own goals, and commendations!

  • Even if it is. I doubt it count toward your commendations.

  • It'd still be cool if it did show up, but I again, advocate again. A Shrouded Ghost encounter on a Meg Quest would be WILD! Then on top of that, people play 15K+ hours and never see the Ghost even once. IMO, things can be rare, but when they're 'never seen in 15K hours+ rare, that's excessive.
