  • The problem is that it's a nerf domino effect

Making another weapon worse because they made a weapon worse.

They would literally be better off giving all players all weapons than anything they've done with weapons over the years in the name of "balancing".

There are always going to be people that blame A B or C on their loss and there are always going to be people that want everything they don't like nerfed. Feeding into this cycle has made combat nothing but worse outside of those 2 groups. This applies to experienced and skilled players too, just as much as inexperienced.

All weapons/tools is interesting not only for combat but for movement in general.

The only people that are happy with combat in SoT are bigger crews that want to win all the time and people that want others to be nerfed. That's not a quality combat environment.

Everything has been balanced away from solo play anyway. The harpoon is ridiculous for bigger crews (especially post patch). They just spam everything already. The least they can do is make moving around more fun/interesting, because this stuff sure isn't balanced for a game that has different sized crews.

  • As famously said by Razoul in Aladdin: ‘You idiots, we’ve all got swords!’

  • Sword can’t stop a blunderbomb air strike.

  • The sword also be feelin' stronger because of food reg. It be takin' a whole animation of eatin' ye food now to recover health. We all be used to cancellin' the animation a little early. Blunder do be good anti sword though, knock 'em back then skeetshot with sniper.

    after nerfing blunder...

I agree that they shouldn't have nerfed the blunder. With the harpoon gun the blunder is now very useless. You blunder somebody of your ship, they quickly eat and then harpoon to your ladder again, etc., etc. You can't stop someone with the blunder anymore. Bad choice of Rare indeed.

    ...the sword stun is ridiculous

It is... ridiculously not working. Since the start of this season i never seen it stun at all. I hit someone with the sword and then they just keep sprinting and jumping as if nothing happened (untill i hit them enough and they die, but they never get stunned). The sword stun is indeed broken and need to be reintroduced.

  • So now that you got want you wanted on the blunderbuss, you’re gonna start in with all the “Well, now this weapon seems a little too dangerous”?

What’s next, people are gonna start complaining about how the eye of reach has “too much range”?

  • If they nerf the sword, the game will just get harder for people with a dodgy server.
I never double gun, as hit-reg in this game has been like a game-of-chance for a long while now. The sword is the only weapon that is mostly consistent.
That said, I do miss the one-blunder.

  • Sword is still no where as good as blunder.

A good blunder hit does a lot of damage, but it also has the knockback which can send you flying and the stumble effect also. In good hands it's deadly.

I would rather see double gunning removed. Make it one firing weapon and one melee equipped, that would balance things alot.

  • Sword like everything in this game is incosistent. It can reg like any other weapon and i agree that sword stun sometimes feels awful. That being said, it doesn't need a nerf. When you double gun you essentially remove the ability to block, for having increased range kill capability compared to your opponent. Unless you get hit reg, you should be hitting both your shots before someone with a sword even comes close to you. If you don't, well welcome to the disadvantage of your loadout...

IF you get knockback. I've recently had multiple fights where I'm hitting with many pellets (not a snipe) and there is no knockback at all. Even point-blank the knockback will sometimes not reg. It's wildly inconsistent, jmo
