Crew Surfacing at Active World Event

  • Last night my sloop crew was repping reapers, there was a green skull fort active at login. We decided to hit up a sea fort and then collect an orb at a skeleton camp before we made our way to the world event.

A chartered sloop crew surfaced at the skull fort just before we arrived, we engaged but were defeated.

I did not think a crew could surface at an active ‘naturally occurring’ world event. I thought crews were only able to surface at world events that they generate through the quest table. Additionally, it is my understanding that those ‘player generated’ world events, generally contain less loot than a naturally occurring one.

Can someone explain the mechanics on this to me?

These world events have less items than a standard one, but the loot will be tailored to the faction you're diving for, so you'll have for instance only Gold Hoarder loot.

AFAIK a crew that raids a fort could be landing on a server where a fort is active (but not contested yet) and the loot inside will become that of a raided one. Otherwise you would only end up at servers where there was no world event currently active or the where the active world event should stop and the one diving to would become active.

We have raidied a fort where there was a ship one island over, so there is no guarantee a raiding crew will be "safe" for longer than just a bit.

  • Ok, so my understanding then is that had we made it to the skull fort earlier, then we would have been ‘contesting’ it. The loot would then not be tailored to one specific faction, and the software would prevent other server hopping crews from surfacing it at - we would still need to look out for crews on our server.

In this instance, the skull fort was ‘uncontested’ and so the software allowed for the sloop crew to surface at it prior to our arrival. Simultaneously, the software must also have nerfed the loot into whatever faction the sloop crew would have chosen to run it from at the quest table.

    Does this sound correct?

    AFAIK yes.
