We don't need any more new features in SOT right now! We just want Rare to fix the bugs and issues with the game!

  • Guys, this recent community weekend had the lowest player count in SOT history. So many of us long time players are in agreement that the game losing its edge. With the myriad of bugs and issues, the game is starting to veer towards being unplayable or unenjoyable. Please Rare, start listening to your content creators, as they are the representatives of us casual players and they are accurately voicing our concerns.

I don't want this great game to become another barren wasteland. Listening to your audience is your best bet to bringing the game back to life and have it thrive for the future. Stop adding features we didn't ask for! Spend the next several seasons fixing all the bugs, meta and hacking issues. Your audience WILL wait for the fixes to be put in place if we know Rare is going to get serious about fixing the game.

If Rare continues this path of not addressing the games issues for the next several seasons, I guarantee you will see your player base vanish before your eyes. Please don't take my words as offense in any way. We WANT you guys to succeed and make this game great again.

    Thank you.

Since when do content creators look out for casual players? lol.

A lot of the major changes have specifically been to try to repair the effects of listening to content creators so much in the first few years.

There is little to no organic-play representation at the higher levels of influence in content creation.

Even now, they aren't looking out for organic play, they just are frustrated with the performance of how they play, aka sinking casual players, lol.

Even this season wasn't about organic casual play, a lot of the features are literally designed for experienced players (content creators) to mess with inexperienced players for content. Most of this stuff isn't viable in challenging scenarios.

I do think there is growing disinterest in SoT but this was never gonna be a needle mover season even before the delays and bugs and exploits. It's fair to compare numbers but it's tough to call this recent community event a disappointment when it was never really gonna be a big one anyway.

Imo having the obsidian item be something that only Galleons (the least popular boat) can use is just silly and far from a strong incentive to be involved. It was just an easy event to skip for people during the holiday season. That's more about season 14 specifically, imo.

  • Content creators do a horrible job of representing casual players.

Most content creators only play half of the game meaning they only like to PvP and most like to PvP against random crews in adventure versus skilled crews in hourglass.

Content creators will blatantly lie and say something like, “battling other crews just for the sake of battling isn’t fun”, or “if there’s no loot then there’s no point.” Most content creators do not care about loot, gold or reputation at all. What they care about is their win ratio. They don’t want to lose. They don’t want a challenge or a struggle. They just want business as usual, easy sinks.

Content creators and Rare’s “random” matchmaking in adventure mode are the primary reasons why many players end up hating PvP.

You don’t put the equivalent of professional athletes against toddlers and expect the toddlers to enjoy the experience. That is insane logic.

Don’t forget how content creators got Rare to embrace stealth in the form of hide emotes that make veteran players practically invisible to new players.

Rare got away with bad game design for years and years. Eventually though poor retention runs its course and less and less new players try out the game.

Don’t forget that Rare refuses to provide a PvE only experience with all PvE content available in spite of knowing that not everybody enjoys PvP.

Don’t forget that Rare refuses to balance adventure mode for solo players in spite of knowing that some people enjoy playing solo and full crews vs solo players is undoubtedly unfair and very imbalanced.

Don’t forget that Rare locked two of the most desirable curses behind a PvP mode with absolutely no PvE alternative path to unlock them but you can loss farm them.

Don’t forget that Rare cannot introduce new features without also introducing new bugs.

Rare deserves everything that is happening to them. Rare is lucky the game was as successful as it was for so long.

Unless the attitude of the people in charge at Rare changes drastically expect a continued decline.

Season 15 if it is a massive Hunter’s Call expansion will be good for the health of the game. Do you know why? Because casual players love PvE updates.

Sea of Thieves is a good PvE game and a mediocre if not poor PvP game. And yet Rare takes 5 years to add a useless safer seas and an extra year to make it slightly less punishing depending on what you value more reputation or gold.

So yeah content creators demolishing noob crews is bad for the game but who’s really responsible for enabling it.

    Rare.

    Where you get this info?

Please Rare, start listening to your content creators, as they are the representatives of us casual players and they are accurately voicing our concerns.

I can only really name one Bird who somewhat does. But not everyone. Most of them don’t care. It all about there own needs. No players, no encounters, no content.

I guarantee you will see your player base vanish before your eyes

Another way of saying. “Sea of Thieves is dying and I know it”. Heard it before. Every special event and update that goes wrong. Yet here we are.

  • this was the 1st community weekend i couldnt be bothered to sail..
I dont need the Gold, i dont need the Rep, i just want to shoot my cannons at other people..
And the game has been a bit lack luster lately.

    It will bounce back

  • I think phuzzy’s video that he put out yesterday had some amazing low hanging fruit ideas that could be implemented super easily. Would love for the devs to watch that. He had lots of ideas for improving the social aspect of the guilds, other easy implementation of existing content or easily adjusted content that adds depth to the experience, and so much of it is new player and casual player accessible. I feel like SoT has so much potential still if they would just reach out and take it.

  • @kuthar90 agreed. Rare needs to start paying attention to these ideas. @PhuzzyBond with excellent ideas.

  • Ahoy!

I remember a legendary time with 40.000 people online on Steam. I really wish the stats would return to those numbers. I hope the developers will cope with the current problems of the game and the quality will return to the previous level.

The important thing now is to focus on a few things:

    1. Company employees must do their jobs with integrity (It is so important that employees do their job, not imitate it. No need to lie to the community)
    2. The quality of the season 15 update (Bugs should be fixed at the right time)
    3. Overall quality of the game (No new errors should appear, new errors must be corrected)
    4. Cheaters (Shoot through walls? Teleport to the top of the ladder? Why can't I do that?)

I wish Rare good luck and continue to evolve!

    Have a nice day!

  • @ixxxoloff couldn’t agree more. Microsoft needs to seriously invest in Rare and their third party teams. There is absolutely no other game that has as much potential as SoT. I’m optimistic that something is happening in the background. This should and could be a consistent top charts game. Keep fighting the good fight.
