Burning Blade Skeletons should listen to text chat orders

  • When taking control of the burning blade, on small crews, the obsidian skeletons don't listen to orders.

I'd expect from the wheel of the burning blade, to be able to issue basic orders like sails up/down, concentrate on repairs/cannons, anchor up/down or 'take the wheel' from the text chat interface like you use with open crews.

  • That's actually a pretty interesting idea! Would be especially helpful for smaller crews to manage everything or prioritize certain tasks

  • I would absolutely love this!

While we are reaching can we give parots the ability to say wheel of text messages outloud

  • I do think this would be a cool dynamic to have, and suddenly give purpose to a long existing feature from a gameplay perspective (it obviously always had a use in player communication). It could even be slightly limited, with some Skeletons still running on the "standard" priority they have now, but one or two in the bunch could break off to follow orders issued allowing players to tune the crew a bit and engage more directly with the Burning Blade (and truly feel like they have taken charge of it).

Of course you do have the issue to address of when a Crew has multiple members spamming commands at the same time, potentially conflicting ones. This would likely be more of a problem for an Open Crew, admittedly, but it is something to consider nonetheless.

  • What about us who can’t use chat? Without a chat pad thing commands is more troublesome.

Not equal if it only works for pc players.

  • I've captained a few after the patch and it's a super cool ship but it's a lot of running around in a way that gets old quick.

The immersion would be stronger with this as a feature and it would just be more fun to sail around.

I don't even see it as just a combat ship, it's really cool to just sail it around (from the perspective of a long time solo). I like how it's slow and kinda creepy. The sounds and noises are great. It would be more fun as a solo with this imo.

He's talking about the pre-made quick chats.

  • I would rather not for the following reasons

So on a sloop crew I'd probably agree, but 1 it is a lot of effort to code these interactions just for that specific scenario
And 2, I can guarantee the demands would only increase from solo sloopers to have ai on board that do these features in general, and I think that would be a very bad direction for the game. Solo sloop is meant to be difficult, putting that much effort into npc interactions is a step closer to the pve only servers that so many still demand.

  • @burnbacon the pirate chat wheel we all have access to.

I know they said "text chat" but I think everyone can infer what they meant within context. Why would you even think they'd expect folk to manually type in commands when a Quick Chat (Pirate Chat) wheel exists and options can be tied to actions?!

I've never used a chat pad for the commands, just hold down RB or whatever i had it bound to, and use the stick.
