GameBar and EAC

    I remember when EAC was first introduced. There were complaints about not being able to use Xbox GameBar to record clips. At the time, this was not an issue I had to personally deal with, because I switched to Nvidia's Shadowplay to record clips a few months prior.

    At some point over the summer, Shadowplay stopped working for me. It will either disable itself, or freeze when trying to pull up the menu. And it happens with all the games I'm playing right now - SoT, CoD, XDefiant, Diablo.

    This caused me to go back to GameBar. And GameBar works just fine with all those games, except SoT. I don't think it's EAC itself causing issues, as Diablo uses EAC.

    Since it has been a few months, I'm wondering if anyone has found a workaround to get GameBar to clip. And if not, I'd appreciate any suggestions for alternatives that aren't too resource-demanding (e.g. OBS).

    Yeah, it was March when I flagged the issue and put in my report.

    Majkon13 did post a workaround but I'm still not risking that, in case it does trigger EAC. It seems a bit iffy (and that forum member has not been seen since).

    Instead, I just switched back to the MS Store version (Gaming Features work perfectly with that now) and I check the Steam version every update, but still not fixed. The MS Store version seems to be very comparable since the change to GDK and now supports proper file management (moving and validating installation).

    Luckily, Steam are working on their own in-built DVR feature (currently in the beta branch), which I really hope works well.

    No worries. From my experience, the MS Store version seems to be working just as well as the Steam version, and you can pin and launch it from your Taskbar. Hopefully it works well for you, too.

    Same issue here, im no longer able to report cheaters and people who say slurs because game bar refuses to recognize this game on steam and make clips of it. Xbox LFG is just gone too. Works completely fine with every other game.

    @alienmagi I took styli's advice and installed the MS version, and all features work as they should now.

    It's not the most convenient solution, especially for folks who only own the steam copy. But it is the best solution for now.
