Stop Hating Skeleton Curse and do everything to destroy it!

  • Hello there!

I am a Skeleton Curse user and I am starting to get fed up with the way Rare has been mistreating this Curse since the beginning.

It all started when it came out, I realized that there were only 4 poor customizable parts instead of having a full customizable set like everyone else or its counterpart, the Ghost Curse.

We had no Cosmetics from the start despite the laziness of making a real customizable Curse and not a "Pseudo Costume".

This mistreatment continues with the Sound Design of this one, we can be heard 3km away when we walk!
A number of players have told me that they could hear me from very far away and told me to unequip it if I wanted to be stealthy.

Last week I did something I rarely do, Tuck on a Fort, more specifically the Fort of the Damned.
I hide on a Boat except that I saw in the chat that the players heard me from the island when I went to hide and that's when I realized another problem!
THE SKELETON CURSE MAKES A BIG NOISE WHEN YOU'RE IN STEALTH EMOTE!
Every time the boat was slightly shaken by the waves my curse produced a big sound of movement while I was in the stealth emote...
Luckily the players on the Fort were bad and never found me behind the Whell.. but they heard me and looked for me everywhere on the boat...

Season 11 the rings are out for EVERYONE except the Skeleton Curse players once again we are forgotten...

Now another subject... Season 13 and Obsidian cosmetics.
Who had the good idea to lock the cosmetics behind more Hourglass levels when the majority of the community just gave up this game mode due to its many design issues?
On PC Hourglass is just unplayable and makes me ragequit entire seasons when I set foot in it to do my Ghost Curse.
Most of the time I come across people who run for 3 hours to get a victory by forfeit...
I even started making videos with Report for Anti-Fairplay and Rare wants to do nothing! Even with a 3-hour video as proof on a single Hourglass fight!

End of the complaints and now let's move on to the request I have to make to Rare (Even if I'm sure I forgot things because there are so many...)

I want a Complete REWORK of the Skeleton Curse,
I WANT to be able to equip hair and a beard!
I WANT to be able to equip my Rings!
I WANT all the customization parts available on Default Skin or Ghost Curse! (Hat, Glove, Shirt, Jacket, Pants, Boots, Dress, Belt, Eyes-Patch, Mask, Ring, Hair, Beard)

PLEASE STOP DRAGGING ALL SKELETON CURSE PLAYERS IN THE MUD!
    GIVE US SOME BURNING LOVE!

  • What I can't disagree with is that when the skeletal curse was introduced there wasn't enough cosmetics for skeletons and it was depressing. Then they added a little more cosmetics in season 11 for the 100th level reputation of Reaper Bones, and now they've added Obsidian Bones. Which is certainly a good thing, but at the same time, you need to open not only through achivkas related to the event (which event still has its own problems) but also through PvP. That may be a good thing, gives motivation to continue the battle to get rewards. However, if you go to PvP mode, it should at least improve and refine it, add a rating system after all! That said...I would like a lot more love for this curse, which we have wanted for a long time. And that's not to mention other items such as the BB figurehead, specifically the red Dragon from the original ship

  • told me to unequip it if I wanted to be stealthy.

I hope you didn’t listen to them and just wear what you want. But fact skeletons make a sound as they walk fits. Is there a skeleton that walks silently? No

I always have it equipped, And it's not just one crew that told me that but several.
For a quick overview, I had sold on Port Merrick and I was shopping on Port Merrick, and then a sloop came to Port Merrick, it ended up in PvP and at one of its respawns I hide on the roofs of the weapon, clothing and tool shops, except that he from the Sovereign zone could hear me. And he made it clear to me in voice chat by telling me "I hear you skelly", which was followed by throwing blunderbombs...
So I agree that the Skelly Curse has different sounds but there is a limit to the distance where we must be heard and take into account if the part we are wearing has boots, which was the case and still is the case...

First off, no one is trying to destroy the Skeleton or even the Ghost curse. Yes these curses are acquired through PvP but that doesn’t mean that they were meant to PvP while wearing them. I can respect your decision to wear the curse with pride as the pieces are unlocked by level and commendation. If you wish to truly PvP then I suggest a more stealthy approach which means removing the curse and wearing all black clothing as most tuckers wear.

I agree that the limited amount of customization for the curse is disappointing. It took us years before the new curse pieces were added. I disagree how they need both levels and commendations for them. It should be one or the other. I definitely like some of the new curse pieces and luckily they weren’t too hard to earn. The only one I’m struggling for is the “Killing Athena Emissary” players. Most players who try to sink the burning blade don’t bother putting up an emissary. As of now, people want to captain it instead of sinking it.

  • I don't see a problem with how the curse currently works, I understand the limitations on the use of clothing and hair and I simply don't mind being limited as long as there is a constant flow of new skins for diversification.

But one idea I had that could help with this would be variations of the same cosmetic, making it possible to change them by clicking a button or even seeing them in multiple slots.

    Original Skin:

    variation

I didn't spend hundreds of hours fighting runaways or cheaters to end up not being able to use it.
Just because the developers have no sense of balancing since the beginning of the game, or that each update they make is incomplete and they take at least 2 years to start reworking them to complete them.

And if there is one thing I hate about this game it is players with a slim skin dressed all in black, it was the same with the sail of the dark adventurers before the rework.
If I have almost never tucked in 6 years it is precisely because this gameplay does not interest me and if I want something I fight, I do not play the coward hiding in a corner.

The problem with this system is that all the skeletons look the same, if at least there was hair or beards it would have been better.
And they had 0 excuses for not putting the rings on the skeletons, it's something that happened after the curses and that should have been worked on too.
As I said above Rare has the bad habit of doing things halfway and it has the gift of annoying me.

  • I think your expectations are too high, I mean you can't even choose which rings to wear and instead you need to equip them as a bundle. For example I hate the big purple ring of Athena but I am forced to have it if I equip any of Athena rings. The problem with clothing items, hairs and beards are they were designed for pirates and they don't have inner textures. This means that in order to make them usable on skeletons, they need to add complete textures for them because models are different. I agree that rings were released later and the developers of a game with cosmetic progress only should have designed them that way tho. Pirate Lord can have rings over his gloves, we can't. Flameheart can have facial hair, we can't. But they need to retexture all of the previous items in order to make them usable on skellies.

  • @shaixys

If the tucking play style doesn’t appeal to you then why are you hiding to ambush people? You complained about the noise the Skeleton Curse makes when it walks. Yes, the noise makes it difficult to hide but that’s the risk you take with wearing the curse.

There is nothing wrong with wearing the Skeleton curse. You should wear it proudly. Just be aware that sneaking will be difficult with the curse equipped.

As for beards and hair, perhaps future curse pieces will be available with them on.

As for rings, they are a clothing option and therefore cannot be equipped with the curse. I have tried wearing fingerless gloves and the distinction rings. Regrettably gloves cover ALL rings. Yes with fingerless gloves the rings should be visible but they are not. I have complained about that in a different post but my plea fell on deaf ears

  • So this boils down to "I want to be sneaky, but I don't wanna change my cosmetics loadout to make it feasible so you need to change the whole game for me" instead?

You know what people who earned the Ghost Curse do when they want to tuck? They change into dark clothing and turn off the curse they also spent hundreds of hours doing HG battles to get. They recognize for various reasons that when trying for a stealth approach, a bright green or gold glow that's VISIBLE FROM SPACE isn't the optimum way to go about it. Maybe your rattling bones aren't either...?

Or you're asking what should have been done a long time ago, making the ghostly version of Briggsy available to players (:
I'm sure if you asked in numbers you'd get it much faster than a sound reduction for the Skeleton Curse :)

    EDIT : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=756276399873669&id=100064739464612&set=a.560108449490466&locale=zh_CN
I think this version will be less greenish and more furtive like you ask

  • @shaixys

I wasn't asking for someone to change the ghost curse, actually.

My whole point was that people who've earned the ghost curse aren't asking for changes to be made at all because it's ridiculous for someone to ask the developers of the game to change it.

Ghosts glow. Skeletons rattle. The enemy versions of them do, as well. The allied NPC versions of them do, too.

That's why nobody is asking for the Soulflame cosmetics to NOT be glowing and flamey because people want to be able to flex that they have them at all times, even while attempting stealth.

99.9% of the playerbase understands that when they want to play in a stealthy manner it's up to them to make a concession in their pirate's appearance and their playstyle to make it possible, not expect the game to cater to their individual needs and do it for them.
