Apparently in the past there used to be a voyage for getting kegs of ancient black powder but that is not the case anymore. I really am trying to grind to get the max explosive loot of legends commendation but it is insanely difficult to even find one of these kegs. The fact that I have to sell fifty of them is outrageous and should be adjusted if they are going to stay as rare as they are. Otherwise, BRING BACK THE QUEST.

Yes there was a voyage introduced in season 9 that had the chance of giving Athena kegs. It wasn’t a guarantee, it was a random chance which gunpowder you got and whether you also got fireworks or firebombs instead. And before that it was just as grindy as it is now, so no need to adjust the commendation, it was set at that number when the kegs were hardest to get.
I’m not sure why they removed the voyage but left in the search for cursed treasure. It could have been an oversight they have yet to correct. In the meantime your best bet is to always pick up and complete the emissary quest and try to catch some Fort of Fortunes. The FoF is pretty hot this season because the Chest of Fortune is currently there, but you should have decent luck with it next season. They move the Chest of Fortune each season… unless they decide to scrap that too… it had already been at the FoF and now it’s back, so who knows… but hopefully next season will be easier for your kegs. It’s only a month away!
