is there a way to level up hg a bit faster? is it worth activate hg while being on a voyage and storing chests/items? do i get ep even if no one attacks me? my winrate in hg is pretty bad 1:3 around and the most battles take at least 10-15 minutes i like pvp but hg feels so tedious ,i enjoy it more in sot when i do my thing and get battles on my journey
work around hourglass reputation
@da-german420 so in defence, the more loot you stack, the more reputation you get IF you win your fight once someone invades. If you lose and sink, then you’ll get the standard loss reputation.
The quickest way to gain levels is by diving. But if you prefer to go at your own pace, then defence is the best for you.

I think it's worth it to activate HG during PvE sessions, but only if you enjoy more battles on your journey.
Answer to your other questions is "no." Fastest way to level is to dive repeatedly and turn in at a streak of 4. Currently, treasure-defense HG isn't as rewarding as it could be, but regardless of how they re-work the system, I don't think you should get rep "even if no one attacks."
Loss rep should be scaled to activity in the match, but should also be scaled to amount of treasure being defended. On-board treasure value should also add a generous multiplier to rep awarded for a win.
For now, defensive HG is really for those of us that want a little more risk during PvE stacks, just for fun. "High seas" can get pretty quiet otherwise.
