Impossible to play SoT on PC Gamepass

  • Hello everyone, I've a problem from 5 days that is driving me crazy.

As soon as I enter the game, I get an error screen "LZ4_CC file missing or damaged, error code: PVS."

I've followed all the solutions given to me by Rare and found on internet, ALL of them, but they don't solve anything. Any good souls who have had this experience?
The only thing I change is my Gamertag Xbox. Nothing else.

I don't know how to get out of it, and I haven't been able to play with my friends for 5 days now.

Thank you very much to those who would like to answer me.

  • What sort of drive/location do you have it installed on?

People had this issue if they were syncing that folder with Onedrive.

  • @reverend-toast It's installed in D:, not in C:, as I use this for the System.
Interesting, I never configure OneDrive on my PC, but I take a look on it, thank you.

Now I completely disable OneDrive on my PC.
I even try to change my account Xbox with another. Curiously, with my account the error is still the same, but with the other the game crashing at the same time I press "New Game".

  • @sleeveit2776 what sort of system are you running? Intel? Radeon?

If you haven't already, I would uninstall the game from Gamepass completely, then make sure you delete any left over folders. When you re-install it, see if you can put it into a unique folder that you name. Like C:\Games\SOT, instead of it being in "program files" or wherever it is defaulting to.

  • @reverend-toast Intel i5 11600KF with an RTX 3060 Ti, no Overclock.

I'll try you're solution, unfortunately i can't install it in C: because there's no space left. But let's see.

  • @sleeveit2776 Definitely make sure there are NO instances or remnants of the game from previous installations.

Make sure your drivers are up to date. you have the 11th gen Intel processor so you won't be dealing with the issues of the 13th gen (I have to UNDERCLOCK my processor... or else the system thinks im out of video memory... when I have a 4080 Super...)

  • @reverend-toast Hi, I tried different solutions this morning. I installed a random free app from the Microsoft Store and the startup crash no longer occurred.
However, the LZ4_CC error now occurs with both account. So the problem is not the account but the game. I now try to uninstall and search every single file left on my PC.

Rare assistance was not risolutive at all.

I did a memtest with the Windows Tool, and it doesn't find anything wrong with my memories.

  • SOLVED

Thanks to Rare support, I discovered that the problem was the Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer/Nahimic program and related drivers. By uninstalling it and deleting the keys from the Windows 11 logs, disabling the background process and reinstalling the game, the problem disappeared and I was able to play the game.

  • @sleeveit2776
I had the same problem, fixed the same way. Thanks bro.
