South African Server

  • Good day, are there any plans of adding a server here in South Africa? I started playing a few weeks ago and my latency is 200+, sometimes spiking to upwards of 500+ for a few seconds. It's sort of playable with the right VPN which seems to route me through Singapore which helps, but that's a paid service that I literally only need for this game - I'm essentially paying a monthly subscription to another company just to play this game. Would rather pay Rare and get it lower...

With the PS5 launch on the way I was hoping to get some of my console mates to join up, but there's no way I can sell the latency to them. Are there just not enough South Africans playing to warrant a server? From what I understand it was previously planned, but the only threads I can find about it are from years ago.

    Thanks

  • Rare uses Microsoft’s Azure servers, so wherever they are based, is where you’re gonna get the easiest access.

  • @tesiccl Heyo, thanks for the response. Is this what you're talking about:

Because from what I can tell South Africa has been available since 2019:

Sorry, I don't really know what I'm talking about with regards to this stuff. I'm just trying to understand if it's because the game isn't popular enough here, or if it's actually a physical impossibility to put one up in this region.
