More PvP Practice

  • I like the faction battles a lot, but when your really bad at PvP (like me) you don't stand much of a chance. I just kept telling myself "Practice makes perfect, if I just keep at it I'll get good enough to win, right?" Wrong. I've been trying to get good at PvP for the entirety of my SoT career and I've been playing since Season 5. But when your bad at PvP, your not in the battle long enough to learn anything new. I have some suggestions to remedy this problem.

    #1: a Friendly Fire option.

Just like how we can vote to lock someone in the brig, have it so we can vote to turn on Friendly Fire. Not only does this allow me and my crew to have some fun attacking each other, but we can also simultaneously get better at PvP. For Example, Practice boarding situations. Especially with the new weapons coming in Season 12, it would be nice to be able to practice with the weapons and try different loadouts in a way that has no risk factor.

    #2: Multicrew Safer Seas.

If we had the ability to invite friends to join a Safer Seas server on their own ship, we could try battle scenarios as well as help each other complete quests by going to different Islands (This wouldn't cause a problem because Safer Seas has lowered value).

I hope you pay attention to this article because I think my suggestions would help players learn the ropes of PvP, as well as they'd just be fun.

P.S. if you want to learn more about what's coming in season 12, just search for "Sea of Thieves 2024 preview event" on youtube.

  • @brocc-beard What you are pratically proposing is an officially recognized alliance server. That will not help with your pvp skills.

If you think HG fights are not long enough, just put on the reaper flag and fight the whole server to get better. As for alliance servers there are plenty of those on Discord.

  • Friendly Fire option.

What happens when another player attacks and in the panic, your killing your own team...

    Multicrew Safer Seas

Your missing the point of SS...it not meant for what your wanting. Its a Single Ship, Tutorial, Tall Tale exploring and self guide.

  • Being able to toggle on/off friendly fire would be nice.
I too wish for ways to practice PvP.
Double gunners who regularly play CoD are a force to be reckoned with in close quarters.. They typically lack in Navel skills though.
Practice your navel and prevent boarders.. Do all the fleets & Burning blade events for cannon practice.

i dominate in HG while on cannons.. but once i get boarded. its usually over for me.
Apply pressure right away so they dont get time to board.. spawn kill you & sail you out of bounds to "win" .

Find another crew who might practice TDM with you.

  • Yes to friendly fire but it needs to be everyone opts in rather than majority vote so open crew can't troll even more than usual.

No to changing safer seas, they've said no unique features there. The first idea could apply to safer seas and still result in pvp practice

  • Another cool thing would be if you could use weapons on the Ferry of the Damned, but without causing damage, just to do a TDM on the Ferry. Then you and one of your crew kill yourselves and go to the Ferry, and there you do a TDM.

  • Let’s bring in a new way to bully and be toxic to newer crewmates who don’t know what the setting does and farm kills on them in open crew. Yeah no thanks.

We already get sweats who warm up their session by double gunning their crew mates to show off their “skill” and spam the chat with RODLs’. And when they don’t get attention, they throw fire and blunderbombs.

    Major no from me. Downvote.

  • @brocc-beard

If you want a PVP practice, I would ask for a reward-free, open-ocean, HG sea-sized server that you can invite up to 7 other players to. Split into 2 teams, choose your boat sizes, set starting supplies , and go until someone sinks.

  • As long as it's individual control and not majority control and the setting resets every server there is no issue with friendly fire.

If someone turns the feature on then they know how they can turn it off.

People that grief have countless ways to grief a session/crew.

Friendly fire has potential for practice in a way that is difficult to find in SoT for inexperienced players without cliques and networks.

The environment is now a situation where people can go all day without even an encounter or their only encounters randomly turn out to be players far too experienced to create any sort of real practice.

People can practice deck fighting, ladder guarding, different combat scenarios.

  • @brocc-beard, a crew consensus vote for friendly fire would be awesome.
