Future Weapons List

  • Future Weapons List

    Spear - long-range melee weapon
Retiario - a net used to incapacitate the enemy, which occupies a weapon slot and functions like the ark's boleadoras
sledgehammer - low attack speed, but higher damage or that slows the enemy with a charged attack
double-edged ax - a melee weapon with medium-long range, medium-slow attack speed, and can deliver a strong blow in a circular area
double axe - a weapon that can be used with both triggers, high attack speed
bow or crossbow - the bow can charge the shot affecting the distance and damage and loads the arrows faster than the crossbow (as in all games) and the crossbow has a fixed damage and power but a lower reload speed (Also you can add types of arrows, normal, poisonous, fire, blunderbuss)
musket (sniper without scope) - firearm with shorter distance than the sniper but greater speed between shots and aiming.
drum weapon - (I imagine it like the one in Fortnite but a little more primitive) - weapon with a higher rate, but lower damage and with dispersion.

It's just a list for you to take inspiration with suggestions that are better than others, at the end of the day there is still a lot of time left in the game in which they could add a weapon from time to time

  • Some of these, to me at least, don't really fit the Sea of Thieves style. The axes might be cool for a boarding weapon, like mentioned for season 14, but an outright battle axe might be a bit goofy. No automatic weapons existed until the 1800's, so a magic item could work instead. The crossbow/bow, spear, and net all sound really fun and good. I feel like changing the eye of reach without a scope might break its balancing a bit, for it will lead to people quickscoping even faster. Some really solid ideas though.

Generally agree, but a large axe makes sense as long as its not a big medieval fantasy double axe. I want weapons that feel more piratey than a chain gun or spears.

I completely agree with the axe. It could definitely work, just like you said, not some giant medieval battle axe. Only way I could see a non magical chain gun that feels somewhat piratey is make a mounted harpoon launcher or spear thrower that feeds in spears/harpoons from the side, and is handcracked. Even that doesn’t feel like it would fit the game though.

  • @GoldsMen @NetherWarrior6 I agree with you guys, these are just some ideas, the balance and implementation depends on the rare team.
    thanks for your comments

  • All I've ever wanted for a weapon in SoT is a bow

arrows that can be manually crafted fire/blunder/venom/etc/etc

I want to take out megs with it and pvp with it

    and bring in bowfishing

    someday...someday

  • @wolfmanbush The bow is also a weapon that I would like them to implement, as well as the different types of arrows.

There are already two of us waiting, hope dies last.

I think it's one of those things that would be quite popular after it's added but just isn't necessarily something a lot of people push for.

Every game with a bow is more fun because it has a bow

In a game like SoT there are many ways to go beyond just weapon and have it as a weapon/tool. Making the experience a lot more enjoyable and interesting.

  • @wolfmanbush Of course yes, I totally agree.
