Video driver crashed and was reset ! make sure your video drivers are up to date , exiting...

  • again this. My friend can't play anymore. HOW DO WE FIX THIS? He has already updated everything, nvidia drivers, game, windows update, EVERYTHING. It was a bug of 4 years ago and now it is back. He also tried to unistall the game and get it back but nothing. . .This error occurs only with sea of thives, all the other games work correctly (both steam games like phasmophobia, others like league of legends) come on guys...

  • @saltanuvolee Ahoy matey!

    Get your friend to change their Direct X settings using the following guide.

    They need to follow option 2.

    Hopefully, this should get them back sailing again!

  • @musicmee OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Finally we can play again togheter!!! TYTYTY ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    This is what I came here to find. Thank you! I'll submit a ticket if it doesn't work. CHeers

    Thank You! This worked for me!

  • BRO ACTUALLY TYSM I´VE BEEN 2 MONTHS TRYING TO SOLVE THIS

  • @musicmee Hi, I'm having the exact same problem, since I can't get in game as the error message pops up before the game starts I was going to use option 2, however I'm using the Xbox app not Steam. How would I go about doing that?

    If it helps I have pretty bad pc but SoT was working fine not all that long ago (a few months give or take)

  • @abyssalsteve999 I also use the app and am wondering what the fix is. Commenting to follow.

  • @abyssalsteve999 Actually, I think we have to do this ---

    Modify the ini file. In a text editor open the file corresponding to your version of the game.
    Windows Store: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Athena\Saved\Config\WinGDK\GameUserSettings.ini
    Steam: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Athena\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\GameUserSettings.ini
    Find this line:
    D3DVersion=12
    and change it to:
    D3DVersion=11

    But...I have no idea what this means. Can somebody with more know-how explain this step by step? I can't find that Localappdata file.
