I used to be able to ALT+TAB to my desktop before the latest client update: 2.10.1 for Microsoft Store.
This update makes it so when I ALT+TAB it brings up the taskbar/last used application but I can still see the game behind it and cannot see any of my desktop folders/programs which makes it very hard to navigate my computer outside of the game.
@burnbacon wow thats a pretty mean answer from you.
The people that I play with (including me) use to do multiple things while playing, including listening to spotify, answer discord messages and having a browser open to watch YT or merfolks lullaby for the storm map etc.
Seems like you do not, but calling cheats just because someone misses the the option to simply tab to another window? Not a healthy way to start a forum thread in my opinion :/

The short answer is google and discord. I have yet to play since the update, but if this is an issue that the game has right now, then i can see it being frustrating and would have never assumed worst case because i have many times had to tab to discord, or look up how to get something i wanted.
Google, discord, sot interactive mao to see storm positioning, a quick whatsapp message that came in and you left your phone somewhere else.
There is literally 1000 options apart from the one you provided.

@bleu-solo maybe try to create a support ticket. It used to work before and almost every game I play can alt tab without any problems so I assume it is a bug and not intentional.

I've had the same issue with OTHER apps. With them I just make sure I open up what I might need before I launch them.
As far as SoT, I like to open up a window for Merfolks Lullaby, so I can see what the storm is doing, and if we ever want to speed-run tall tales/shrines for guides etc.
@d3adst1ck That's a nice semi-workaround for now, thanks for the info. It still doesn't fully solve the issue because anytime I open 1 application the game pops up again in the background. But at least I can temporarily access my desktop.

@BurnBacon There are infinite reasons why I'd like to access my desktop while playing. Seeing as the game used to work this way and every other game works this way, I'd like to retain this feature. I know it's just a bug related to the recent client/framework changes.
So basically the way ALT-TAB used to work is the game would minimize and stay minimized until I either click it in the taskbar, or alt-tab back. But now if I use Windows+D it shows the desktop, but as soon as I open anything it will maximize SOT in the background of whatever I open. Same for ALT+TAB.. SOT just stays maximized in the background without ever minimizing like it used to.
