Paid real money. It was not what I wanted. The preview in the shop was misleading due to different ship types.

  • I saw a nice ship customization set in the shop and even paid extra for the collector's sails. The collector's sails had 2 patterns across all of its sails. Some sails had one pattern, other sails had the other pattern. However, when I equipped it to my sloop, it was not what I wanted. I got the wrong pattern, and since the sloop only has 1 sail I was stuck with it. Ended up using different sails entirely and the money I spent felt wasted.

    Here are some solutions:

    • Let players change the ship type they are previewing in the Shop.
    • Let players change which pattern is used when equipping it to their ship.
** Either show a "Swap Pattern" option in the Ship Customization menu while hovering over sails that have 2 patterns.
** Or give the player 2 sets of sails with the purchase: Pattern A and Pattern B.
    • Play a short video in the preview window that shows it equipped on all 3 ship types.
    • Make the Sloop the default preview (or whichever ship type the majority of players sail).

  • You bought a set of Sails that clearly showed them on a Galleon, equipped them to a Sloop & now are unhappy because it doesnt look like the Galleon Sails. :/

    Vaild, but still Buyer beware.

This is why I had asked for an AI skeleton crew, so that solo players like myself can actually use the galleon. It looks grand and majestic, but we're stuck with the sloop if we don't want to team up with randoms and deal with the mess that comes with it.

  • Just add a preview on ship option to the emporium shop. Setting sail would remove any ship set that had not been purchased.

I recommend joining the Insider Program.

The insider program is a beta testing version of The Sea of Thieves. [Mod Edit]

Just be aware that your insider pirate and your retail pirate are separate. Any cosmetics [Mod Edit] from the insider program won’t transfer the your live game. The insider program is under the protection of an NDA meaning you can’t reveal anything you see in the insider program.

  • @coffeelight5545 Mentioned NDA protects some of the information given in your post and as such, I have edited those parts out.

  • @mopwieldinghedgehog

I wasn’t aware that was under the protection of the NDA. Sorry about that.

  • I feel they should add more to the essential set and add the collector's to the full bundle if they're going to display it, or at least a collector's add-on pack at a discount without showing the collector's sails and figurehead on the full bundle which does not contain it. I think this would fix your problem?

    A) I didn't know that would happen.
    B) Even if I had, it would've been a 50/50 chance I got the wrong pattern anyway.

Are you suggesting that I don't spend any real money on ship cosmetics unless I plan on using it for a galleon?
Or should I waste time pestering Sea of Thieves streamers/YouTubers and ask them to show me the sails on a Sloop or Brigantine first?
