Safer Seas improvement

  • I've recently gotten into Sea of Thieves with my spouse due to safer seas.
I am planning to introduce more friends to play with us in safer seas.
We are not fan of PvP, so safer seas are ideal for us.

Having said that, me and my spouse have come across some things in game that would be nice to have in safer seas:

    1. Having higher reputation cap than 40 (capping at max (100), and being able to grind for rings cosmetics through distinctions would be prefered)
    2. Being able to own your own ship and sail around in (also to unlock the cosmetics for furnitures and such)
    3. The time from beating an event and a new one starting is very short, which makes finding and fighting a kraken very hard to achieve, as i belive it is an event in itself? (Otherwise we need to time being on the seas as an event ends, which all in all is a bit frustrating)

I am not to familiar with all of Sea of Thieves systems, so bear with me if im out of line.
I know there are a trading company called the Sovereigns that are locked in safer seas, due to not having your own ship.
I am not sure what kind of trading company it is or what it does, so i am unsure if owning your own ship in safer seas would be unbalanced in that regard.

We are very grateful for the introduction of Safer Seas and plan to play for a long time.
Hope we will see some great improvements to all of Sea of Thieves, but for us especially Safer Seas.

    Kind Regards
    Your friendly neighbourhood pirate

  • Here we go again….someone misunderstands the real purpose of SS and wants change so it’s like High Seas without pvp

  • So you want the same reward with no risk?

Safer Seas was never meant to be a seperate mode to progress your levels, gold, reputation, commendations.

It was brought in to allow players to get comfortable with the mechanics of the game at their own pace. It was also a place to allow players to explore and experience the Sea of Thieves story without interruption.

If you want to progress your pirate. High Seas is the way to do it. There are many ways to minimise your risk of PvP.

  • @wacksez I refer you to one of the previous answers on the subject...

The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but families, players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly become available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and being a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.

  • @wacksez right the point of safer seas is to get you ready for high seas that why they have low rep and gold gain and a cap to levels at 40 to prevent you from becoming a pirate legend as for the kraken it's a random roll on who's in open water normal that a 1/5 chance of getting hit but my guess is when your the only ship it still does that roll so unless your ship is in open water after you complete an event you won't see the kraken....the captained ships I don't see why not but Rare choose not to have it in safer seas so it probably won't ever show up there....in short SoT is a game about Risk&Reward safer seas doesn't have that hence low risk low rewards and encouraging player to sail high seas

  • @wacksez the long and short of it is no. Safer Seas isn’t meant to be an all access area to have what High Seas has without the risk. SoT is a PvPvE game which means if you want the booty, you’re gonna have to risk sailing out in the open sea and watch your back.
You’re not out of line by asking, but Rare have set Safer Seas the way they have for a reason. If you want more info on why then watch their Deep Dive video on YouTube for Safer Seas, it’s great insight!

    Dropping anchor.
