Hourglass skill based matchmaking?

  • Hi,

Could anyone clarify or tell me how the skillbased matchmaking works and what stats they're looking at?
I've done 10 games of hourglass in total maybe in the past where i lost about 5 of them.
Today i got to a point where i started doing hourglass because i want the curses.
I did about 10 games and lost all of them.
In my first 5 games i came up against all opponents with either a skeleton or ghost curse, while i had done maybe 15 matches in total and i lost the biggest part of them.
Is it normal that i only get queued up against players way better than me?
Does being a pirate legend have anything to do with it?
I know i'm a pirate legend and i've been playing the game for a long time now but i feel like i shouldn't be having to lose time and time again and having to be queued up against people with allegiance level 100+ after only my 20th game max where i lost like half of them...
So at this point, i would like to know what the criteria is for this "skill based matchmaking", since i feel like this is just kind of unfair towards me at this point.
Also, these curses being locked behind an achievement only sweatlords & streamers can get seems kind of harsh to me, but if this is meant to be this way i guess i'll just step away from the pvp.

    Thanks in advance,
    Grts

The matchmaking isn't done on the level (people with curse or high level could have been playing loads and losing a lot), but on a win/lose ratio somehow; unless they can't pair you and you will get either a crew which has won more or has lost more, so the queue times won't be too long.

    Don’t confuse curses with skill.

You can have a duo sloop, one player who is a sweat dominate the other duo while the other guy just stays on the ship. Win and both get reward but only one really did the pvp

  • @haltzo5045 if you’ve never played this game much as a pvp’er….you wont just start winning in hourglass. There is a huge experience gap from adventure pve to hourglass pvp. Just the simple fact of bilging and helming…bilging thru the grate on galleon, helming so cannon always has shots on sloop. You need to play often and learn all the angles of sails, cannon fire, chainshots, boarding, etc….it won’t take you long and you’ll be a naval lord! Good luck out there
