SOT world needs an overhaul

  • Long time SOT player. Lets get real.

Hunters Call lacks so much love. Theres so many voyages that can be added to the game for them. Hunt merfolk, megs, krakens, sea creatures. Fight a named enemy, get the special item and turn it in for gold and glory.

Chest of Fortuna - should not spawn on one island. This should have the chance of spawning on any skeleton fort! Nobody does a Fort of fortune anymore because nobody wants the loot on it. Thats why the world is dead and nobody does world events like they used to. Imagine being a new player, or recurring player, and you clear out a basic skeleton fort just for the fun of it and BOOM theres a COF. Nobody does the FotD and when they do people are just waiting to steal it.
This simple world change would make the doing events so much more enjoyable.

I have done 8 siren song events, 2 people actually pvpd and they gave up mid fight and just gave us the key. Nobody pvps anymore, this is console experiences. Its nice getting an easy 50,000 gold every 30min.

    WHERE IS FLAMEHEART!?!
(yes i know they mentioned he is coming back and it has to be special, but come on...we all forgot about him.)

  • In my experience and observations the only ones that really ever have an issue finding pvp are those that hop a lot and those that are focused on creating content more than playing the game.

I've played through all the highs and lows of organic activity in the game and the one thing there was never a shortage of was people that eventually want to attack.

The game is meant to be random with the unknown. Quick action and constant pvp are contradictory to an adventure environment, which is what this has always aimed to be even at the times there were (imo) missteps in maintaining that.

He was yelling at some kids that their hair was too long when his walker got caught in a pothole, so he's a bit delayed.

  • I still dream of legendary fish to catch for hunters call and an Ice region.

  • Pretty sure that Rare said the Chest of Fortune changes location every season, so eventually for a season it will be in a skeleton fort or any burning blade ghost fleet or any ashen lord encounter or any skeleton fleet.

  • I definitely agree with the hunters call needing some love. I always kind of hoped they had their own emissary or some voyages to hunt special wild creatures but with guilds out now I dont think I'd ever use it.

  • The statement of no one PvPs anymore is interesting. Because it's been that way for quite some time. And to avoid combat, at least as a sloop, is quite simple - see someone coming and just turn tail. Most people give up within 15 or so seconds.

The game is built on PvE with hopes that people MIGHT PvP. There is no PvP without PvE.

So to your point, they need to build more on the PvE experience and have it open in both High Seas as well as Safer Seas. This will give players more to do and appeal to both play styles.

Honestly? I have to agree with the majority of this. It's strange when you think about it. There have been a lot of improvements and additions to the SoT world over the years, but it's hard to deny that many aspects of it (especially the Hunter's Call) have been gathering dust for quite a long time now. That and Flameheart (despite his faction winning so many player events) is still mysteriously and conspicuously absent from the world.

One really does have to wonder why the heck we can't get something like an Icy region as a counterpart to the devil's roar. Or why (as stated above) Flameheart seems to be taking a vacation from the seas despite his (TM) "imminent" return. Or why the Hunter's Call lacks so many of the QoL upgrades that the other factions got (they only recently got Sovereign access) and seems to miss out on much of the love that the rest of the world gets.

  • @gundy-the-shark But the issue is nobody wants to sit around and wait for those events. You have this massive world where all of these events are that nobody is doing because they are just waiting for that one world event to spawn in and then they server hop to the next one and repeat.
