PSA: Monkey Island Rewards! (Chef and Circus)

I dunno if this was always planned or if it ended up being based on feedback after the fact but either they already had a solid plan to deliver awesome and fresh cosmetics or they listened to the feedback and turned it into a reality for players.

It's a win either way it happened and it's a win that players can unlock these now.

Great way to get people to do the tales again.

I already did the tall tale, will i have to complete it again to get it? It's still locked for me, and i did 100% before the update.

why? new cosmetics for new effort makes sense

it's a fair exchange imo, they want some activity on the tales (which likely overall helps the game) and people get cool stuff that they wanted/want

and people know what to do now and there are plenty of guides for those that don't.

I'm super cool with good cosmetics being used as incentives to re-do recent or older content.

@wolfmanbush Yes, new cosmetics are good, having to do the exact same tall tale where you already did 100% ins't. They should just gave it to players who already completed it, it says "complete the tall tale", i already did, it's just not fun to do it again.

They got a business to run and numbers/activity to hit. They could have just ignored the requests altogether or charged people money for them (money that many don't have laying around)

It's free cosmetics (that MANY wanted) for some activity.

@wolfmanbush Yes, it's free, but that don't change the fact they did it in a lazy way, i would rather pay for it than waste time NOT having fun. And if they are doing this to show numbers for the tall tales, I'm sorry, but that's just a bad way to run your business.

There are a lot of ways to play and enjoy this game, a lot of ways to enjoy earning rewards.

There are a variety of ways to earn and unlock things in this game, through different types of play.

I'm not much of a tall taler, I just make the best out of it. Whenever I get some random urge to unlock the cosmetics or if some opportunity arises with another or others I'll do it then.

I'm just glad people have a chance to get something that many wanted.

Indeed. I'm on the other end of the spectrum; Tall Tales being one of my favorite parts of the game. It's fun when they play around with the game's mechanics to do new things and they really showcase the game's humor which I really love.

I understand that they're not for everyone, but playing through once more isn't really that big an ask. Heck, it's barely a blink of an eye compared to unlocking the Gold Hoarder Curse.

I love that they still serve types of play other than my own. I don't wanna be surrounded by people like me lol, it's far more interesting to be around people that play differently and see things differently and enjoy pirate life differently.

The quality of experience has gone up dramatically for a lot of people, I still very much find rewarding parts of my sessions.

To me, season 9 and 10 are where sea of thieves truly became sea of thieves.

Having the experience of how it once was creates daily appreciation for how much the game and experience have improved, for many.

I hadn't done the 3rd one yet and I'm glad I waited because it gave me a chance to do them all over while still having the goal of unlocking the new rewards along the way. I randomly decided to go through them in the last couple of days

It's pretty wild how much effort obviously went into making these. It's like entire games built into a game. The fact it's free content is pretty incredible.

I like how the environment opened up as the tales went along and the new mechanics got more interesting.

I have no real nostalgic attachment to PotC or Monkey Island but I feel like both sets of content really were well done and the cosmetics are a lot of fun as an option to wear. The shanty is cool as heck.

Absolutely genius to force us to slog through the entire set of tall tales again after 100%ing them all. Great cosmetics, but they clearly should have been there day one. Feel like I am being punished for completing these as they came out. I guess next time it’s best to wait a few months on the TT?

That's like feeling punished because there are new emissary rewards for turning in the same ole treasure.

People ask them to add cosmetics, they ask them to give reasons to return to content, they asked them for specific cosmetics related to the content, etc etc

Much of what they do is based on what we can all see being asked of them right here on the forums, undoubtedly other feedback areas as well.

Imo people should stick to their principles if this makes them feel like they have been wronged in some sort of way. People give them a tough time for implementing feedback in a fair way and then they go out there and unlock the cosmetics anyway. They still get the activity, people still unlock the cosmetics, and it just leaves a bunch of nit picking that distracts from the fact that many players of the game received what they asked for.
