Honest Trailer Treatment !!!!
I think this should be less a dig at Rare and more a brag about doing this. Honestly, this being made by a family rather than like curated staff is very impressive.
And even though I'm not gonna play that game bc I prefer the PVE stuff. I'm not gonna lie, the headshot thing got me way excited. Headshots are what's missing from guns for me here. Kills satisfy. Headshots excite.
Also, is it really hit-redj? I always say hit-regg. Bc spelling.

The funny part is that it's getting people that make a business out of SoT to free advertise for a game they aren't going to stick with or earn from.
Influencers and content creators being overly critical and discouraging (to the point of it just being drama) of a game that their business is largely dependent on is an interesting growth strategy for business.
but hey, hit-reg and stuff
@wolfmanbush I was watching one the other day that was saying some stuff about hit reg and how they don't think the game will last and for most it's already ended (nevermind how many are going to be just starting now with SS).
I agree, it doesn't make any sense. Are they trying to create an echo chamber so their voice sounds louder to devs than it is? Are a large portion of their viewers people holding these or similar sentiments? Maybe they're just virtue signalling because that's the part of the playerbase that watches them and it really is just this wierd part of the twitch-market that they're actually killing it on by exploiting the viewers' desire for an echo chamber.

People have played this game for thousands and thousands and thousands of hours without making a dime from it. Without taking much of anything other than rewarding experiences.
Nobody outside of SoT takes SoT pvp seriously, the competitive scene seriously, only some SoT players take themselves seriously.
People like chill adventure games, they like thrilling adventure and they like chill content. Nothing about this game or player content in this game is truly dependent on high performance, players push it but it's not a thing. It's just flat out not a reality of SoT. It's manufactured drama and unrealistic and unfair expectations.
There are content creators that have been around years just having fun, making the best out of it, finding random situations to get into. A person has the opportunity to make better content in season 10 than they did for most of the existence of SoT. If they evolve their content, if they lead a pleasant and fair environment.
Taking from this environment more than most of the players ever have and then causing most of the drama and negativity is not something that should be enabled imo.
I mean, fropm my perspective, I played thousands of hours and jumped into Arean and jumped into hour glass and it was like, nothing has ever been improved on. Ofcourse Im gonna jump ship to something that delivers what SoT hasnt been able to deliver. Theres only so many times you can sink a crying kid or get your ship lifted up and sent to heaven by a hacker before you just give up.
Arena was a blast but, the matchmaking was terrible. Here its less than 2 minutes and youre in a game, no endless looting, no waiting around. Its a quick, hop in and play experience that SoT cant offer. I can play a round in 20 minutes without question vs waisting that 20 minutes waiting on arena to start or hourglass to work.

2 things that most players in this game haven't seen at all or maybe once or twice.
Why? they aren't meta gamers and content creators, they aren't playing how everyone else is playing or trying to compete socially, they aren't coordinating or cheesing, they are just playing randomly, seeing what happens in a session.
and it was like, nothing has ever been improved on
this is far from how the majority view this game.
this game went from a fort attack/defend simulator to a true adventure experience for many. One that is wildly more enjoyable and rewarding today than it was in the past.
People expect something from Rare that they try to serve but never promised or truly offered. What they created and what they offer has massively improved, what some expect of them is undeliverable, but they still try anyway.
@wolfmanbush Except that, Its proven to be deliverable by a family of 4... All we asked was the arena worked at the end of the day.

I've long looked at this game as an experience more than a game. Not everyone sees it that way, some just wanna pvp or gold grind or whatever, people are free to have preferences.
What is unique about this game is it attracts non-gamers, it attracts adventurers that just happen to enjoy this game as an experience.
Nothing wrong with other games or people preferring them over this game but live service issues in this game don't take away from what it is offering people and what people are finding here.
That's why it's here still, an improved adventure experience that people still enjoy. Other games serve other styles and that's a positive thing, this game serves adventurers that are here for random adventure, lore, megs and krakens, scenery, storytelling.
The truly beautiful thing about this game is seeing what it became compared to where it started. Hit-reg matters to some players, it does matter to Rare, but it's just not a big deal to most adventurers that are here for the overall experience.
But you dont speak for everyone. There are Over 60 players in my discord that have tagged themselves as SoT players, none of them have come back since Hour glass waits were so bad, We kept hoping after arena.
We have found something that allows us to play quick games and thats a good thing.
Those of us that stopped playing arean eventually got blamed for arena being turned off instead of the fact that the arena matchmaking never worked... and I was in it the entire time. It was terrible.

I completely understand when people leave this game, when they don't like the game, when they burn out of the game, when they get frustrated with changes or performance.
I'm not saying people are wrong for their preferences, I'm saying that the majority that stay here are here for reasons outside of serious pvp and taking pvp serious.
When people poke at Rare/the game over things like hit-reg it's effective during social media type drama but it's not something that significantly negatively impacts the experiences of people that are here for so many other reasons.
People should play other games from time to time (if they are gamers), they should take breaks from SoT if they need them, they should move on if they aren't enjoying their time here. That's all supposed to happen.

@wolfmanbush Yes but we shouldnt be blamed for the failures either
people were attached to the mode so it's understandable that some took it personal, it's not fun to go through what people went through involving arena
people weren't blamed really it was just no longer a viable option for them going forward.
Hg and this new voyage aren't as good as arena was for some but it's still a couple of attempts to bring some of that to adventure for pvpers.
They just got to a point where they had to stick with adventure
Okay but thats the thing, The claim was that No one was playing the Arena and thats not true. I know from well not countless, 60+ players, the arena was no longer fun because the wait times were bad from the beginning and they never fixed it. they let it die and then told us no one plays. We dont play because it never worked properly.
When we come around and see a family of 4 get it right, we are like okay... whats wrong with this.
