Guild halls

  • I accidentally posted this in another thread, but i figured I'd go ahead and post it here as well.

Would love to see some kind of guildhall added at some point. Maybe it could be made to where it's in the sea of the damned in it's own instance or whatever, where your guildmates would be able to join and hangout. You'd enter through a portal, or through the main menu. Have no clue what it would look like. Make you could pick, since it's in the sea of the damned? A sea fort? A cavern? An outpost? An island? Just any good social area would work. It could have a bar. A meeting hall. An office for the leader/owner. A dynamic library to display your accompmishmets(tall tales and the such). Maybe you could add mini games. The possibilities are honestly endless. It would have basic amenities(all the customization boxes). A dock. Places to display your trinkets and treasure. Maybe a vault that changes based on your distinction. Have no clue if this could work. I'm no developer. Just an idea that popped in my brain. Love this game and all the work yall do for it. I think people would really like this feature

  • I always find it strange when players request a place to “live” or a house as such. Our ship is home! We literally live at sea. That bond with your vessel should be just as important as the bond with your crew. It’s both your vehicle and living space.

  • @tesiccl It's less like a home and more like an immersive lobby.

  • @tesiccl never asked for a home per say. Just a social hangout where everyone in your guild can hangout. There's not really a way you could do that in-game as is. Hence why I said guildhouse, and not house. Should have said guild hall I suppose. It would just be a social area. You could hold little meetings and host events and the like. Share stories of your adventures.

  • I have mentioned this before, but since there are 6 Sea Fortresses, and there are 6 ships on each server, I could see the Sea Fortresses become a session start point for Guilds at some point in the future... let you customize it to fit your style (It would replace the appearance of that Sea Fortress). Though i think the only purpose of these would be if they eventually allow Two Guild ships to be on a server at once.

  • man people sure do want a place that isn't ingame (adventure) and just...hangout instead of playing..

I rather it be ingame and if be, can still attack each other. No hiding in safe spaces

You always make this point but seem to ignore the fact a ship is limited to 4 people or less. That simply won't satisfy the guild dynamic of 24 people, hence why people keep asking for this. Nothing wrong with wanting proper social options to accommodate a whole guild.

I agree that sea-forts would suit guilds very well and I like the idea of guilds being able to spawn at one. Not so sure about customizing the fort though. I'd rather just see the normal banners replaced with your guild branding.

Yeah... it's only natural to want to have a proper space to interact with all your guildies. But that's only to accommodate the social side. Any proper guild would spend most of their time playing to try up their distinctions which wouldn't really get anywhere just hanging out at the guild hideout. At least the hideout could really help people coordinate a little.

Don't think of it as a hangout instead of playing. It's more a hangout in addition to playing.

I talk to people on discord sometimes instead of playing too.

Reason i would like for them to be customizable is so you could add larger "Trinket" rewards for Guild Activities. Imagine changing the Megalodon Jaws into the Massive head of the Shrouded Ghost? Or having Large Portraits and tapestries on the walls.

Would be cool if there was some sort of mechanic for something other players could steal from Guild Halls too. (I would love for there to be a chest that increases in value the longer you hold onto your treasure before turning it into the Trading Companies/Sovereigns that needs to be transported from the Guild Hall to be sold.

  • I'd rather that they work on adding new things to play with to the actual game rather than chat rooms. We've had 2 major social functions (Captaincy, Guilds) added in the last year with nothing major to shake up the world in between.

  • @tesiccl on the one hand yes but also having a hidden outpost(guild hall) of sorts still fits in Athena's Fortune Ramsey and his crew use one of the islands as a hide out so having one for our selves could be cool

  • @burnbacon just having a space to hang in why wait for the rest of your crew to hop on that's not just floating at an outpost where the chance of getting sunk by someone which may be low but it's never zero ....also there's lore for crews having hidden outposts so why not you don't have to use them it's just a nice feature is all

I can definitely see the appeal. Just prioritizing the basics. If it's not fun without cosmetics then it could be better. Cosmetics can always come later if/when the devs are ready to do it.

Sounds epic but based on the server limitations I, personally, don't think it's at all practical for the devs to pull off.

Naturally, but something like this would really help guilds do what they are meant to do as social features. The game has so much going for it as is for the majority of the playerbase and all of the new players systems like this would appeal to.

  • @tesiccl To that effect, I hope we get even MORE ship customizations, as to make it as "ours" as possible - new hull shapes/designs, different sail designs, lanterns, railings, rigging, etc etc!

  • Just wanna add that after seeing the following thread: https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/162134/guild-and-captaincy-question
... it occurs to me that one very strong reason for a guild hall/hideout is that you'd have some place to go if your ship is currently in use by your guildies in the event that your ship was the only Galleon or something. That said, I am pretty attached to my idea of a Guild Fort hideout where you have use of the sea-forts big map room and can see guild ship locations.

I may be alone in this but that's something I'd love to see in this game.

  • @burnbacon what? You act like there can't be both. It's a social game. They tout that all the time. You can have both. It's just supposed to be a way to bring your guildmates together. It wouldn't be replacing anything.

  • @b4njax yeah, I can agree. The sea forts already are kind of built for them. I just thought the idea of you having a hidden base of operations in the sea of the damned would work quite well, as they would be instanced and wouldn't take up space on the adventure servers, and would allow the halls to be more customizable.

This is a good point. What I do when I have plans to play with someone and they're taking forever is go to the tall tale portal anyway. I have spent at least an hour cooking and playing shanties there by now.

  • And or could kick it off with a massive raid event where you plant a flag on a island or fort after defeating some sort of boss and do this with multiple locations.

  • Holy Necromonger Batman!
