Low FPS on RTX 3060 Ti

  • Hi there I noticed I only have around 70-80 FPS on Mythical which I think it's quite odd to have with the setup I got, you can correct me if it's normal or not or maybe something is wrong not sure. Is it possible that maybe my motherboard is limiting my GPU?

    My setup:
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz
Graphics Card: MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB GAMING Z TRIO
    RAM: 32 GB 3600Mhz
Game runs on my SSD 980 Samsung Pro
Motherboard: Asus Intel ROG STRIX Z270H GAMING M.2

  • CPU is the bottleneck for SoT. Step down one or two settings until you find a good balance. Not everything necessarily, just until you’re happy with your results.

  • You don't mention resolution? I'm guessing by the specs you're at 1440p? Those FPS seem about right for this game, if so.

Dropping down settings that are heavy on the CPU might help somewhat, but also lower your resolution (there is a resolution scaler within the game settings that may be worth trying). If you haven't already, I'd also suggest enabling XMP on your RAM to make sure you're getting the best speeds - that may improve things as well.

What abjectarity says is correct, Sea of Thieves is very CPU bound and it isn't entirely optimised for multithreading - it will only ever saturate 2 cores, which will read as low utilisation. So you are going to hit a bottleneck there in some areas no matter what, unfortunately.

  • You have a 7 year old Processor, and I am assuming everything else (Apart from the GPU) is probably the same.

Also, 70+ FPS is not low... especially on a 7 year old system... but the Processor does do a fair amount of the work in the Unreal Engine... so I would build a new system... probably can keep your power supply (As long as it is 800) but get a New Motherboard, Processor, and RAM if you want to keep those settings up high and get above 100fps.

  • Help guys im with an RTX 3060 and my game is on 30/25 fps
